The beginning of the year is a time of reflection for many of us. We look back and think of what went well and what we could change in, add to, or ban from our lives. Sometimes we may come to the conclusion that an adjustment is necessary. I remembered this post I shared about 10 years ago and thought it would make a good first post of the year. Always remember: new beginnings can be made every day!

I understood that I cannot find peace in avoiding them but in opening up to them and life led me again to that point again to understand and dissolve the issue eventually. You can read about it here.

What we see is what we understand as our reality. I think we agree on that. But the problem is that many tend to see this reality as something given, not as something that can be changed consciously just by using our imaginative power and, in addition to it, the power of our thoughts and deeds. Every one of us is a legislator and executor. We decide what we accept as our reality. What we see today is only the jumping-off point, not the punch line.

It seems that the subject of “change” has become pretty central, lately. At least, I feel like this is what I need to write about when even from different perspectives. Even if someone does not like making changes, at some point, they do. Changes are necessary if we want to progress, learn and see more than before, start something we have never done before, reach for new shores, and expand ourselves. Changes are healthy to support our progress and keep us evolving, don’t you think?

Maybe you know this. You have a plan that is still in your drawer or a dream that nudges you from time to time. Although the idea of living that dream brings you joy, the thought of realizing it brings you back down to earth. The reasons can be money, circumstances, self-doubt, or fear in various forms.

My first thought was: it’s amazing! But after letting it sink, I realized there is so much more about it. In the following, I will list a few things that come to my mind regarding a dream fulfilled or one about to come true. There is no particular order.

While I’m still deleting and revising older posts, from time to time, I came across this one. It is a simple one of my very early blogging days. But right that made me think about how many times I have fallen into this trap since I wrote it. Not only does it apply to how I handle my little world, but also to the difficulties the whole world has been facing for the past few years. Starting with climate change, to a pandemic, to the war in Ukraine. All this affects everyone in one way or another. But we must not lose ourselves in the crisis we are facing. Only by keeping in mind how many blessings we still are granted, do we gain the strength to make it through and bring about the change that this world so desperately needs.

Who has not experienced it yet? Life confronts you with something you really don’t like to deal with. It may be something you successfully ignored, or someone else solved it for you. But for some reason, it seems to come back like a boomerang. Again, you don’t feel like dealing with it. May it be because it makes you anxious or forces you to look at a part inside yourself that you have been hiding and maybe even forgot about it. Maybe you even thought you made it over it – until a situation happened in which you realized you did not. Not at all!
There is this point in life when turning away, wanting others to solve your issue, or distracting is not working anymore. It is that time when life says: “It’s enough. You postponed the task too often and for too long.” And you have no other chance than to look at it, take it, and end it by yourself. It is human that we try to avoid triggering anything that could bring us into situations that put us in the driver’s seat. Where there was always someone around to step in and make you get away, all of a sudden, no one is there anymore to take the steering wheel. That can be even scarier. But since you never learned to make it on your own, life needs to take all possibilities to escape.
But no worries, the task may appear much bigger and more overwhelming than it really is. It only feels like it because you thought it would be that way. And every time you turned away, you added a bit of the negative thoughts that made it grow. However, once you take it to heart and just go for it, you’ll quickly see that you actually have help on your side. But now, the help you receive is no longer an ease of your task but help for self-help. You learn to master the matter and find constructive ways alone and with support.
The tasks are not getting easier, but you are becoming stronger.
Erika Kind
How often have I thought that I could slip through again, only to see the wave coming back later again and even a bit higher? After a certain point, running away was not possible anymore, and I had to face my fears and demons. Every time we do that, we not only untie a task of daily life but also a knot in our soul’s plan. Of course, we cannot be sure if there are more knots on the same subject. But each time it gets a little easier. Because each time, we experience again that in the end, we do not emerge weaker but stronger, more self-confident, and more relaxed from a difficult situation.
You are the Phoenix.
You are your own salvation.
You are more than any challenge you may encounter.
On a side note: This post was inspired by my reading about Empress Sisi’s life-long desperate attempts to escape the court ceremonial and herself. The older she got, the more she traveled the world – the tragedy of a broken and restless soul.

Several months ago, I printed this quote and hung it above my workplace. Although I do know this, I find myself worrying about negative results (mainly when it comes to my employed job). At least I notice and usually get myself out of this negative attitude and back on track. Still, I am surprised how deeply such behavior must be rooted in me.

Oh, well, such big dreams but so many inner steps to take to realize them. Isn’t it crazy that what we want the most often also scares us the most? A dream I have is something that I don’t have in my life yet. What I have not had in my life yet, I have no experience with. It is not the dream itself that scares but the changes that may go along with, the possible sacrifices, the risks to fail, and to deal with the consequences. The big unknown we cannot estimate. Again: to take responsibility for our actions with all of their consequences!

Or we are afraid because our project also means to show a part of us that we kept hidden for so long. But there comes a time when all those fears are not strong enough anymore to keep us from going for our dreams. They cannot keep us from stepping out of our comfort zone anymore. We are full of excitement and enthusiasm and yes, we try it with all our hearts and passion. And then it happens…. the door opens up!

My post Who Is The Thinker caused some interesting discussions. Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News asked why fear can be the opposite of love. He said he thought it was hate. Before I thought of that theory I felt the same about it. I think hate is the first thing that comes to our minds when we think of the opposite of love. But is hate really the end- or only a by-product when it comes to the opposite of love?

My Monday post “What means freedom” from three weeks ago triggered some very inspiring discussions. Still, freedom is a state of not feeling the need to escape a situation or a place. But how can we get there when the circumstances are so suffocating or when we are so afraid of what’s happening?

They are more convinced that good things cannot be real but accept the not-so-good things as the only realistic option. Read more ›Over the past 1 1/2 years and especially during the last 6 to 8 months I have experienced not only what power our thoughts have but also how fast and reflexively they can influence our feelings and emotions. Nothing may have happened but a simple thought can change the mood instantly.
Read more ›Due to the current situation regarding my job, I want to reblog a post from a couple years ago. Sometimes you are chances offered and since you won’t let them pass you take them. You are supported and learn a lot but after a while, it can happen that it doesn’t turn out what you expected it to be. You don’t feel comfortable and actually, it becomes a pain in the neck more and more. Maybe you even get sick from the expectations you cannot fulfill since everything inside you starts rebelling against what you are supposed to do. Instead of getting better over time, it gets worse and worse. You know that a change is inevitable. The tricky point then is to disappoint those who gave you the chance and supported you. Can you leave them behind only that you feel better? Can you be so selfish since you know how they rely on you? Sometimes we have to be selfish to move on. Isn’t it actually selfish, too to stay where you are only because you can avoid a conflict with others or with yourself? Perhaps we are taught to make everybody happy but we can’t because there is always this one person being left unhappy: You!
When we are going through life we can find ourselves in situations and circumstances which require our actions. It just happens due to the way we live and also to learn and develop from what we experience. Sometimes certain situations not only hold new elements but are simply new and scary all over. We are asked to decide whether to stay in the old which we don’t want anymore for a long time already or take that step into the new completely unknown which feels liberating and deeply scary at the same time. We are aware that we are standing in front of the point of no return.
It can likely happen that we give in again since feeling guilty and perhaps selfish and taking the responsibility for breaking down everything and affecting the lives of others with it can be overwhelming. It is the moment when we need to step aside and reflect. As long as we are in the midst of the emotional stream we will break down physically and mentally at one point. Maybe we really resign because we cannot take it anymore. But that is exactly that point we need to look closer: Do I want to look back and say “I already made it so far but I did not take that last step only because I was too afraid”?
We need to get into an observing and more objective position. We need to remember what brought us so close to that moment of changing our lives. Was it a mood? No, it was an inner conviction. We headed towards that point of no return because of a reason and we need to recall everything. If this recalling fills you again with determination and the knowing that the difficult way again/still feels like the right one then go! Life is more than what was! If we are directed by our fears or insecurities we will always look at our dreams like clouds that are blown away by the wind. If we want to live the life we feel as ours inside of us then we need to step up for it. Then we need to take the journey through the thorn bush and risk some scratches. The scratches will heal again but not going through will keep us from ever experiencing the side we already see in our hearts as the life we are supposed to experience.
When a change needs to be made it is normal and actually a good sign that we feel emotional because it shows that what was has a place in our hearts and will always have. Life is change. Life is risking something. If we never risk a change how shall we ever know how it feels to really live? What makes us grow is not the security of our comfort zone but the inspiring fresh air of the world that is waiting behind us. Our comfort zone is a small limited space within a universe of possibilities. Yes, it needs a bit of courage to step over the limit line but you feel it in your heart when it is time to do it. Reflect, remember why you got to this point, and motivate yourself not to back out again! You don’t need to explain it to anyone. It is enough when you feel deep inside that it is time to leave for more!
Remember that all you do will lead you towards the destinations you are meant to arrive. The reason you are standing at a turning point is that you have either grown too big or that you learned what you needed and now can continue on the main street again. So, don’t be afraid and take action. Yes, we might disappoint others but as long as we don’t act in deliberately hurting others it is simply life. We are disappointed too and have to learn how to deal with it. Taking responsibility, making that step consciously, and following that path determined will empower you even more because you know that YOU did it. You stepped up for yourself and dared to take action!

I dare to say that fear is the origin of most or even all of our problems and troubles. Fear is a blocking filter built by the mind and it keeps us from connecting with the source of power inside of us. Peace, understanding, development, happiness – to sum it up – love, comes from within. Only if we open up the pipeline to that source, which is the origin of our being, we can live the life we are supposed to. We need to identify fear as a lie. Fear is a thought, imagination, and nothing else. It never tells the truth and is a big cheater.

The most common reason why we don’t try something new is that we are afraid of failing. And why? Because we don’t want to appear weak, incompetent, dumb, clumsy, … Successful people have not become successful because they had no fear but because they tried it anyway. Lately, I came across this topic several times and thought it would make sense to repost an article I wrote almost 2 years ago:
Life isn’t about being someone we think we should be only because it sounds good because others want us to be, or in order to fit into a certain image of society. A faked personality only confuses the people around you and yourself over time more and more because the real identity gets lost.

At the moment, the heaviness of the past weeks and months is falling off. I feel light and like moving towards a door that has been already opened and only waiting for me to get there.

Here is one example of my life that is one the most remarkable because it was one of the earliest of such experiences.
Many of you know that only 7 – 8 years back I would have never dared to talk in front of people, to share my own thoughts, to stand tall for what I believe in even when no one else believed in it. I would have never dared to say something at all without checking before if there are some who would agree with what I say. Otherwise, I said nothing at all. Then I had my breakthrough 7 years back. I only need to think of that moment and my eyes get watery because I will never forget that feeling of breaking down the walls of my prison.
Here I was, standing in my full light. That light made me see immediately where my path led and I started writing I’m Free – Awareness of Who You Are by Discovering Who You Are Not. I did not know nor did I want to think too far ahead if that book would ever be published but deep inside I knew exactly that this was the journey I was on and the destination I headed towards. When I was done with the manuscript, had given it to others for proofreading, and worked over it again, I felt ready to try something that felt simply impossible to me only 2 years before. I dialed the number of a publisher in order to ask if I may send them some excerpts. They accepted…… and I was full of fear!
Was I afraid that they wouldn’t like it? No, I was terrified that they would love it! The light definitely illuminated my path. It showed me all the things that are now coming my way and I felt overwhelmed in both positive and fearful ways. Can I handle this all? I could be taken seriously! But I was not used to it! I might have to speak about all the things I believe in and what I saw as blessings in life for everyone. But was I ready to do so? I have always dreamed about it but….. HELP…. it works out!!! I felt like losing control over the developments.
Thanks to my ego pride (yes, the ego can be very helpful) there was no way back… I had given myself a promise to never ever return to my old prison. And that means that I need to let my light shine in order to see the path… step by step! As you know, they accepted and my blog only exists because of the English version which was published two years after the release of the German book. Meanwhile, I have given several lectures, have written for newspapers, and have even given 3 English live radio interviews. I accept right away because I never want to give my brain the time to block the plans of my soul. I feel where I have to go and I will never stop following that inner feeling. Did get used to my light? No, not at all! It feels as if I discovered it every day anew. It is a bit scary…. but much more wonderful to see that the world stands wide open to me!
Sometimes we go for something and don’t really consider it to work out. We do it in order to grant our soul its peace because then we can say that we tried it. Even bigger is the surprise (or the shock) when it works. And it scares us a bit more because we feel mentally unprepared. Nothing stays the same anymore. But when things are going smoothly then it is the proof that it is your path and your time- whether your mind is believing it or not.
When we are not used to the bright shine of our light we can be shocked and scared by its immense creative power. The light that we are is pure creative energy. When we let our light shine and only then take action we are on our path and that path will always – all life long – lead to new places. Because we are meant to grow. We are meant to evolve. We are meant to LIVE! It is ok, to be irritated by your light because it is the most amazing power and it is even living within you. But never be scared of it. Trust, that it will always illuminate the path your soul chose way before it came into this body in order to fulfill its plan and give your life the sense and meaning you long for. Your soul is nothing else but the peace of the Almighty.
So when you let your light shine, God shines through you.
That is what the world needs so badly.

But due to the fact that I lost a whole weekend and had some stressful days before I wasn’t able to write a new Monday Post. I decided to pick a fitting one from March 2015 and modified it a bit.

To me, we have continuous awakenings throughout our lives. Every day gives us another piece of a picture. Every completed picture is an awakening. But every completed picture is again only a piece of another bigger picture. Awakening is a process. Awakening to one aspect can solve lots of misunderstandings at the same time. One of the most impactful kinds of awakening is learning to say NO! When that is learned lots of issues disappear automatically. In the following example, I talk about how I learned it 13 years ago.

This is something we can be scared of or something that can even give us relief because we can let go of the pressure to keep everything under control.

So dark and so lonely
My heart was for years
Ruled by my self-doubts
Controlled by my fears
For far too long
I thought there must be
A change in the world
or a savior for me
But nothing did happen
No one understood
No one did care
If only I could…
Being who I am
Or who I wanna be
Not caring if others
Did understand me
All of a sudden
I thought: Why not I?
No one can judge me
Cause no one is I
I started to rise
Started living my dream
Not afraid anymore
That someone could be mean
I respect and I love me –
The person I am
Enabled me greatly
To love everyone
The smile that I’m wearing
Is no fake anymore
It shines from my heart
As the light of my core
Today I am content
No more fears, I am free
With me, the world changed
And the savior has been me!
In Love and Light
Vonita of Passion Through Poetry asked me to write about making decisions and the problem of indecisiveness. I am convinced that at times every one of us is in a place where we struggle with deciding which way to go, which door to close or to choose, and not knowing how it will turn out.

Read more ›On Wednesday mornings I always prepare my Monday post. Sometimes I just sit and think: “Hmmm, and now what???” Like at this very moment. Of course, I make notes when I have ideas for posts. But often there is nothing coming up that would align with my notes. So I simply start writing and hope that something will be coming up.
Hope! That’s the crucial word I just reflected on. What is hope? Can’t we interpret hope in many ways?

In turns, I hung 6 of them which spoke most to me into my kitchen. I went for each of them and made enormous steps in growing myself.

The clearer the mind, the smaller the fear.
In conquering fears we are progressing our lives.
Satisfaction and love are about to arise.
What is one of the most confusing situations for us? I’d say when we are left without information. When we don’t know about outcomes, decisions, what is going on in other people’s minds when they don’t tell us when there is a distance or no possibility to communicate…

And even if you know it changes constantly. Somehow you back off but at the same time hope that someone sees it – feels it, because you don’t want to say anything – and is just there.

Once I wished for a magic wand…
when I was looking at my broken dreams and fixing my wounded heart.
when I looked at myself as the greatest failure.
when I cried about my helplessness.
when I wished to change what caused sadness and pain by my own actions.
when I wanted to see people as they are in order to not be disappointed by them later.

I am off this weekend for module 4 of my Emmett-Technique class. Learning more about this wonderful tool for muscle relaxation, pain relief, and regaining mobility.
For now, I love to share a poem that I recently wrote.

So much you’re yearning for.
You’re hoping and believing that
One day you’ll see that door.
Not driftwood nor can rocks
get stuck in the water’s flow.
It always finds a way right through
or over it to go.
When I see a rainbow
my heart is getting light.
It shows that heaven’s guidance
is permanently in sight. Read more ›
Last week I had an amazing live interview with Kimberly Rinaldy at Lessons in Joyful Living. We were talking about my book, my motivation to start it, my challenges, how I reached my breakthrough, and much more. Since there is so much more to say, Kimberly even invited me for another interview. I will keep you posted on the date.
We touched on one topic that is most important to me. Because it is one with which many of us are fighting during our lifetimes. I too did, because I thought I wasn’t meant for a purposeful life. I simply misunderstood that I am always fulfilling my purpose. But only when I rediscovered my value I started going for my dreams consciously. It was the time when I promised myself: “I will never ever look back and say that I had the chance, but didn’t take it because I was scared. And now it is too late.” Never!

Some people seem to have it in for giving us a hard time. There are problems in the job or it is a time of big stress. Perhaps your private life has reached a point and you question where your relationship shall lead to. Maybe your worry about someone you love or someone who said goodbye. Sometimes you come to a point when you ask yourself: Was that it? Was that my life? Is there nothing waiting for me anymore?

I so often think back on how things have come together in order to unfold the way I find them in my life today. It is an exciting journey of exploring. It helps to understand the universal laws, gives lots of profound insights, and therefore strengthens my faith.
My most impressive string of unfolding in order to come to new unfolding is the story of how I came to write my book I’m Free and so much that followed. It is a huge story. When you read my book then you find lots of examples in it from my own life of how to break free. I am currently writing a new book which is about miracles. The story I want to tell you today is mentioned in that book and it is still a miracle to me. But at the same time, it is only a part of a far bigger miracle that still seems to unfold.

How do you define miracles? I’d say that usually, we mean an unexpected happening of luck, right? But my personal definition is: Miracles are happenings, encounters, twists, or coincidences which we cause by the way we think, and act and by how we apply our experiences to our lives.
Yesterday I experienced such a miracle. The miracle of breaking free. Those are my favorite miracles. An experience I already had many times in my life. I was completely under the weather. I was thrown off the track! Yes, even Mrs. Positive has breakdowns at times. But they are OK. They always come when I am about to shake off an old chain.

That can be because of a certain look, body shape, a medical condition, a point of view, the way they live, mental issues, their visions, … There is so much we can call difference. Read more ›

Actually I wanted to write a post about something totally different. But today while I was doing my household (I always get the best ideas during vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms, or mowing the lawn – my head must be pretty empty then…), I started thinking about this subject.
