Don’t Forget the Rooms of Power in Times of Struggle!

While I’m still deleting and revising older posts, from time to time, I came across this one. It is a simple one of my very early blogging days. But right that made me think about how many times I have fallen into this trap since I wrote it. Not only does it apply to how I handle my little world, but also to the difficulties the whole world has been facing for the past few years. Starting with climate change, to a pandemic, to the war in Ukraine. All this affects everyone in one way or another. But we must not lose ourselves in the crisis we are facing. Only by keeping in mind how many blessings we still are granted, do we gain the strength to make it through and bring about the change that this world so desperately needs.

A house has several rooms. When we stand in the living room, that may be the world for that moment because we see only the room we are in. We also know about the other rooms, but they don’t have priority at that moment. If we need something from the kitchen or bathroom, we go there, and then the kitchen or bathroom has all the attention even though we know about the living room.

We also set priorities in life. We stay in the thought and feeling spot that seems most important to us at that moment. When we have problems, we even refuse to leave that spot. Yes, we know about the other beautiful and empowering spots, like our family and friends, a steady income, a roof over our heads, enough to eat, health, seeing the sun every morning and hearing the birds chirp, and many other things we do or could have. Nevertheless, we remain in this one room and often even believe the others are closed. The paradox is that we long for them but do nothing to change the space.

If one of those life contents above change or disappear or another problem appears, those ankers seem to become invisible and unimportant. In this way, we cut ourselves off from the energy of life and become small, fearful, and weak. I am not saying that we should not take problems seriously. But many of our problems become problems only because we call them problems. If we look at it from some distance, it’s just a task or a challenge we need to work through. When we call something a problem, we start running in circles, desperately looking for solutions. We identify with the problem, connect with its energy, and dig deeper into it. In this way, we will never find a solution. Albert Einstein put it this way: You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it. So, if we look at it only as an event, we keep our distance, do not identify with it, and thus remain solution-oriented.

Life happens, and through the interaction between all of us and our co-creations, we cannot control what happens around us. Things happen. Although we may not have a hand in it, we can be dramatically affected by some events; especially when it comes to the loss of a person or a job. If one part of life changes, we still have the other parts – we still have the others. In times of turmoil, it’s even more important to remember those many other spots which are still there. It is precisely then that we need to go there and remember what we still have. From this, we draw our energy to gain the strength to face the many challenges of life.

There are people who seem to be able to overcome any difficulty. They may have been through a lot, maybe even several times. Yet they don’t seem broken, but strong, positive, and full of life. How can this be? They are usually humble and grateful, know what they still have, and draw strength from it. And they know very well that it is useless to bury themselves in self-pity. They know that only getting up and taking the bull by the horns will take them further.

There is always something to hold on to
until you feel solid ground under your feet again.
Do not forget the rooms of power in your house.

Thank you kind lady, beautiful empowering words. I shall make that room within myself and carry it with me wherever I go. I think that our lives create that separation so that we can see inside us, venture into those parts that don’t seem together and try to make them whole. Your words are a guidepost to find those little pieces of us so that we can become whole again. Thank you 😀❤️🙏🏽

Exactly, it is those cracks life causes which makes us reach “easier” back inside of us. And as we both know, it is love we find and love that guided us to find it. Thank you very much for your insightful comment, dear Mark💖

I am so pleased you posted this again Erika…. Having been in that one room myself several years ago… I agree we cannot solve a problem by repeating the same old patterns… We have to step out and take a fresh look at what is in that ‘room’ which we see those problems to begin with.

Learning to ‘See’ that we have always Held that Power… Its always been within us which ever room we step into… The problem is not the room… our external clutter and confusion of what is occurring or the furniture/ environment. But the solutions are within each of us as to how we perceive those issues..

My own inner power lies within my heart… I have learnt much over the years of doing my own inner work that the room, is only the outward trappings of the exterior decorations.. What really matters.. and holds our true Power comes from our inward journey of learning how to view life not as problems, but a series of challenges…

My biggest achievements in life have come from my most challenging situations.

My Sister has always been my greatest Motivator…. Overcoming many challenges, Cancer among them… Not once did she give in and say why me… She set to to make the best of each day in healing herself so she could look after her then young family… She over came that challenge. I believe it was her state of mind… Her determination of healing herself..
She found her own inner Power house within her..

Many are in the few months ahead are going to need to find their own inner Power Erika… Life and our world at large is about to get more than chaotic for a while… Because the old structures are no longer working, and we cannot fix them from repeating the same problems over and over. So they have to go..

Humans tend to hang onto their comfort blankets, not wishing for change, and yet in these times of struggle we will see many necessary changes … We too have to be prepared to change and look from a different perspective. for we cannot keep repeating over and over our same problems in ever decreasing circles .

Its time we each stood up and took that bull by the horns dear Erika…. For we are all going to need to pull upon our inner strength to create the changes we need to make..

Much love dear friend…. and apologies for the book reply…. But I have not been active on many blog spaces in recent weeks….
Know I admire all you write and enjoy your philosophy on Life..

I am very thankful for your book reply, dear Sue. It is important that these words get out. No one can escape the current and coming change and we all need something to hang on to which may help to create new virtues for a new, better, and more sustainable future by a humanity that finally learned. Your words make it even clearer that the big transformation is inevitably close.

This was the post that I thought would go along well with your latest post. Not the same story but still, a similar direction.

Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your words, dear Sue. As I said, not only do I appreciate them but also I am clear about how important they are for everyone 💖

Keep those doors unlocked and open that give you that energy boost to get you through. Sometimes we can be easily not off course but the adjustments we make can put us right back on track.

Life is the best navigator, but only if we honestly look at what the own part was about things that did not develop the desired or hoped for way. Then the experience is truly gold.
