A while ago, I shared a post #JustAThought … Our Lives – Our Illusions. Let’s revisit this topic and recall that when we are living in an illusion, that illusion creates our reality. However, we are not supposed to live a certain illusion but are free to choose. It is in making a decision what kind of illusion I want to live in. As I have shared many times before, in deciding how I want to see the world and my life (what attitude I want to adopt), I will experience everything that happens within that context.
Each life is an illusion, an illusion created by everyone. Whatever we experience, hear, or witness, we put in context with our current way of seeing life and our opinion about everything in and around it. Everybody does this individually. I often mentioned that we all create our personal reality. But it is more than that. Life must be an illusion in which we forget the truth. Because the only reason we live life over life is to remember this truth piece by piece. With every small insight, we gain excitement about discovering more about ourselves and the universal laws. The interesting thing is that it is not new to us, but something we might only have forgotten. We don’t need to grow into this “new” truth, but we open the door to a room we have not visited in a very long time. It may appear that what we gained through the insight is new. However, deep down, we only solidified the ground and the joy about remembering a truth that has always been there, which makes the insight so much more impactful.
Two weeks ago, Annette mentioned Neale Donald Walsch’s children’s book The Little Soul and The Sun in a comment to my post The Three Concepts of Holistic Living. Although the book was written for children it is eye-opening even for adults. In the following, I am sharing the beautiful way in which Neale Donald Walsch explains the concept of reincarnation in simple but poignant words.
During our lifetimes, we encounter so many people. With some, we are working, some become friends, some people become very close, and some are part of our families. We meet people every day. Some leave their marks, although the meeting was brief and unexpected. Some encounters we forget right away, while some we would love to forget but have to deal with due to our job or because they belong to the family.
When people are dealing with the same incidents and issues again, or, when they get confronted with the same fear or even become the victim of something, the origin can lie in a past life, and in the current life, it is to work it out. I know this will be a sensitive topic, but I dare to touch it for today’s post. You will soon see why!
The week when I scheduled this post, we had some turbulence at work. We were confirmed again that you get to know the people around you anew in difficult situations. However, we looked forward and tried not to let it get too close. It made me think of a post I shared a few years ago:
We can leave a place physically or in terms of attitude. I prefer the second option. If we only leave physically but don’t adjust our attitude, everything will repeat at that other place after a while. The same kinds of issues and people will appear. You can run from a place but not from yourself. And wherever you go, you will take everything along that is part of your system.
After I saw a Reel from Eckhart Tolle on Instagram, the quote above came to my mind again. I often think if only this or that would be different, I could relax. But in the next moment, I shake my head and think again that nothing will improve just because a particular situation is over. Maybe it will be short-term, but since it is my thinking that labels a situation as difficult or challenging, the challenge is always with me.
I must have been 7 or 8 years old when I sat in the back of our car driving home. I had my hand resting on the armrest of the car door. It was in the 70s, and since there was no smartphone, tablet, or whatever, I was looking out of the window, thinking of everything and nothing when my eyes wandered to my hand. I began watching it, and this initial thought came to my mind: “So, that is my hand now.” Further, I moved my hand and consciously watched what it could do. I even remember I wondered what it would look like over the years.
Sometimes when I sit here to write my Monday post and have no clue what to write, I begin to think of the basics of life. What is essential for me? What is it that I don’t want to miss at all?
The other day I had some interesting discussions with some blogger friends. It ultimately revolved around the fact that we actually know everything we need to know to get through this life journey. We have our answers for this life within us. And even if we don’t have them, we automatically move in a direction that leads us to the information we need. That, too, is controlled by inner wisdom.
Have you ever had this weird feeling of nervosity? I mean, you wake up in the morning and, for no apparent reason, you are nervous. Then it’s not long before something happens to confirm the inexplicable nervousness. Something like this has happened to me several times. Suddenly I have this strange feeling, and it won’t go away. I then wonder what is wrong with me until something occurs that exactly matches the feeling. It seems like the order has been reversed. As if the emotional reaction to a future event has been brought forward.
I have often thought about this, I know many of us do it, whether the soul or the ego speaks to me in specific situations. Especially when we find ourselves in complicated and challenging life situations or facing important decisions, it can become even more difficult to distinguish between the voice of the ego and the voice of the soul. You want something badly and feel the urge to pursue it. But is it your ego pride that drives you, or is it the flame of your soul that you feel burning? Is it the wisdom of your soul that wants to save you from a painful detour, or is it the ego that does not want you to follow and fulfill your soul’s calling?
Today I am addressing a topic I recently discussed with a friend. Some people celebrate life, and some almost feel guilty for doing it. Feeling guilty about enjoying life can be for various reasons, such as having someone close taken from them, having caused unhappiness, pain, or loss to others (even if it wasn’t intentional), having failed, and feeling ashamed.

We are already moving toward the end of January, but when I scheduled this post, it was December 30. On that day, I received a wonderful gift from our dear blogger friend Parneet: his book, Prisons – The Six Secrets of Life. Even when he offered to send me a signed copy, I was touched by his kind gesture. Then when I held the book in my hands, I was touched again. I know I don’t post here as often as I did a few years ago. I wish I had more time, but “the bills” have to be paid too. That’s why I appreciate such loving gestures all the more and hope I can give back some of what I receive here.
When I look out the window now, all I see is a white wall of fog. Outside it is cold and wet. That is the kind of autumn we are used to in November and winter in general. Sometimes the fog even stays for days or weeks. But so far, it hasn’t bothered me that the sun doesn’t shine, and I can only see as far as the nearest bush or tree. I even feel comfortable – at least when I sit here in my office and look outside as I write these words. It may be ugly outside, but it makes it even cozier and homier inside.
Who has not experienced it yet? Life confronts you with something you really don’t like to deal with. It may be something you successfully ignored, or someone else solved it for you. But for some reason, it seems to come back like a boomerang. Again, you don’t feel like dealing with it. May it be because it makes you anxious or forces you to look at a part inside yourself that you have been hiding and maybe even forgot about it. Maybe, you even thought you made it over it – until a situation happened in which you realized you did not. Not at all!
There is this point in life when turning away, wanting others to solve your issue, or distracting is not working anymore. It is that time when life says: “It’s enough. You postponed the task too often and for too long.” And you have no other chance than to look at it, take it, and end it by yourself. It is human that we try to avoid triggering anything that could bring us into situations that put us in the driver’s seat. Where there was always someone around to step in and make you get away, all of a sudden, no one is there any more to take the steering wheel. That can be even scarier. But since you never learned to make it on your own, life needs to take all possibilities to escape.

But no worries, the task may appear much bigger and more overwhelming than it really is. It only feels like it because you thought it would be that way. And every time you turned away, you added a bit of the negative thoughts that made it grow. However, once you take it to heart, and just go for it, you’ll quickly see that you actually have help on your side. But now, the help you receive is no longer an ease of your task but help for self-help. You learn to master the matter and find constructive ways alone and with support.
The tasks are not getting easier, but you are becoming stronger.

How often have I thought that I could slip through again, only to see the wave coming back later again and even a bit higher. After a certain point running away was not possible anymore, and I had to face my fears and demons. Every time we do that, we not only untie a task of daily life but also a knot in our soul’s plan. Of course, we cannot be sure, if there are more knots on the same subject. But each time it gets a little easier. Because each time, we experience again that in the end, we do not emerge weaker but stronger, more self-confident, and more relaxed from a difficult situation.
You are the Phoenix. You are your own salvation. You are more than any challenge you may encounter.
On a side-note: This post was inspired by me reading about Empress Sisi’s life-long desperate attempts to escape the court ceremonial and herself. The older she got, the more she traveled the world – the tragedy of a broken and restless soul.
On Instagram, I saw posts about #NoFilterDay. That got me thinking. Does this mean that a lot of people post pictures of themselves with filters, basically? I am not talking about the funny filters with dog tongues, cat ears, and distorted faces but filters that make them look “better” (whatever that means). I never paid attention to this until now because I don’t use such things myself. Is it because these people want to impress others by looking a certain way that they think will get them more followers, or don’t they simply like the way they look? When I think about our “selfie” society, where people focus on themselves and the importance of what they do and eat all day, this would make sense.
We all know that body, mind, and spirit are one. One influences the other, and one can heal the other. For me, change and healing still begin within. An illness or even accidents are often manifestations of something that comes from an imbalance in our inner world. But can it be the other way around? I mean, can an imbalance be in the body first without there being an imbalance in the mind? We have the body we need, with all its subjective advantages and disadvantages – subjective because everything our body provides is a tool to bring us back to our(-)selves. So it keeps us in line with our destiny either by finding other ways due to its limitations OR by overcoming limitations or diseases.
We hear it so often that we should enjoy life, not put anything off, let our soul unfold, and follow the call of the heart. There are commitments, yes, but not all of them are real commitments. Many we do out of habit, even though times and circumstances have changed and the reason we took them on no longer exists. We sometimes need to stop and examine how we are actually filling life. Is it only filled or is it also felt?
This juxtaposition has been on my mind for a while. We all see the difference between both and for sure get the deeper meaning. We are all shaped by life, and by all the influences to which we are exposed in this life until our last breath. Nobody likes to act against their conviction or personal virtues only to satisfy their boss, society, tradition, or simply some people who take advantage of another person’s helplessness, insecurity, fear, or dependency. Yes, we all know that, but sometimes the line between both is very thin…
I recently enjoyed a singing bowl treatment. If you’ve never had one, you wouldn’t believe what it can do to your body and soul. Before the treatment, we always talk about whether I have any specific requests regarding the outcome. I usually tell her to just do what she feels is necessary. I want to keep my head out of it and let happen what needs to happen. But last time, I wanted her to consistently follow up on any blocks she finds. I told her that I am so tired of reflexive resistance arising in me when it comes to ridiculous things and that locks me up inside. This automatic resistance keeps me from expanding, and I’m so tired of working against it, which only causes more resistance. I said I wanted to be transparent and permeable. After the treatment (which was very effective), she said, resistance is not necessarily a bad thing but rather an intuitive reaction to not letting it all in. That got me thinking.
Often I notice emotions that don’t feel like they are supposed to be with me. My mind keeps reflexively talking me into things which I actually know, I don’t even need to listen. However, since the emotions appear reflexive, I can only act once they are already there and provoke me to question their origin again. For some reason, I thought of a post I shared three years ago and felt like posting it again today:
Recently, I wrote a lot about how important it is for healing that we don’t turn away from painful feelings but face them. That, to not push them back again into a drawer but to take them out of that drawer and let them go. The reason they show up is that they are ready to leave, and the triggers in the outside world are only coming to support them surfacing.
We all have our dark spots, subtle emotions that show up in certain situations, inner resistance, old wounds that reopen, scars that keep us stuck in a past situation. As I said before, we absolutely cannot ignore them and sweep them under the rug. Just because I don’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t still there. But we must be careful not to look only into the abyss of the soul. That is the same misunderstanding as ignoring them.
There may be times when the past catches up with us, and it seems that for a long time, we have only these dark shadows around us. We can’t see the light. But the explanation is actually quite simple. Imagine taking a photo of an object that is in front of the sun. It will appear completely dark because of the backlight. You are actually taking a picture of its shadow. If we focus only on the shadows, we miss the fact that there must be a lot of light behind them. The darker these shadows appear, the brighter the light behind them.
As soon as you realize that you ARE the light, the obstacles you are working through lose their dark color because you shine ON them. Then they are just obstacles to be overcome. With this attitude, you begin to see them as tasks on the journey, but not as obstacles that keep you from your journey. Again, you stop resisting and start accepting. You go from “Why me?” to “Let’s go!”.
Keep in mind that no matter how many dark potholes you may fall into, you will always be caught by the power of your soul. It knows the way, and its light will let you find the way to get back to the surface, just as you need it. Your life is not meant to be dark, and you are not meant to believe that. It is your strong soul that is determined to resolve as much of the past as possible. Only the strongest are confronted with the darkest shadows. There is so much love in them that keeps them going, that makes them stand up, and gives them the courage and determination to go on. And those are the ones who encourage so many others to do the same. Because we can!
When you feel like looking into a dark hole then remember that your light must shine the brightest. Continue the journey and know that your light will always attract light to accompany you on the way. I honor you for the wonderful soul you are.
Lately, I have been digging into working myself through karma. There is quite a lot in motion in my life that provokes me to look back on my incarnation history. It is so amazing how many links I can draw to relationships, my own attitudes or blockages, and the karmic laws. I know this is something many are a bit scared of since they are afraid of what they could find when looking into one of the many previous lives. Yes, I was quite a bad guy but a blessing as well. As I wrote about two weeks ago, we are going through all kinds of roles in our different incarnations. We build up karma, and we solve it again. Going through hard times, and suffering from repeated disappointments, humiliation, or resentments can be an indicator that we are about to resolve a not-that-nice part from a past life.

A few weeks ago, I heard this in a movie, and it intrigued me. As a result, I came across some interesting articles on the Internet, for example, one from the Stuttgarter Nachrichten. Here is a short excerpt:

The cells in our bodies, the oxygen we breathe, the carbon and nitrogen in our tissues, the calcium in our bones – all come from stardust produced many billions of years ago and continues to be generated.
