My first thoughts may be doing what I want, having no obligations, no duties, and only taking care of myself and my needs. Perhaps this comes to mind first because barely someone can do this. But let’s pretend to go for this. It would lead to isolation pretty soon because it would mean to lock everyone out. In thinking we’d free ourselves we’d send ourselves in a homemade prison.
Isn’t freedom rather the ability to embrace life as it is without feeling the need to escape? It has a lot to do with understanding that we are not our circumstances but the ones who are in the driver’s seat and navigate through them. The being that drives that car has always been free. It is the mind that decides which way to turn the key.

Oh yes, Erika! “Without the feeling to escape” is in my opinion the best definition. (Looking out of the windows, here. 🙂 Michael

If we can reach that state, it doesn’t matter where we are and still we are free. (Got you 😉)

Erika, your first sentence of the second paragraph says it all. I have wondered why people want self-driving cars, as the freedom to drive where we want, to pull off the road at a quaint village or stores, is freedom. Keith

Ha, that is exactly what I think about it too. Why were cars invented? Yes, getting faster from A to B but also for the freedom of feeling an independency. Meanwhile, reasons for safety and traffic clearing take over… but I digressed here.

Right on target, Erika. Freedom is a state of being in which we our not governed by our circumstances. When we learn to navigate our heart and mind, the landscape becomes wide open. Thank you for the inspiring thoughts today.

True, the alignment of heart and mind leads to steadfastness and pulls the thorn of fear. When we have reached that we see the blessing our path brings and are not afraid to walk it.

It has taken me my entire life to get to a place of freedom internally. I was conditioned in self doubt and fear by a mother with BPD.So much of it rubbed off and then experiencing my own trauma further held me in a mental prison. Thankfully I have been on a self healing journey for 10 years and learned how to let go. It’s not always easy and I practice it everyday. I’m a late bloomer, finally coming into my own. It’s all a huge lesson in this life that keeps repeating and whispering to me to keep pushing through because I am worth it. The more I heal the louder my intuition is and I can act from it. You are worth it too my friend 😊

You must have come a very long way and I honor you for what you have been doing for yourself. I can relate very well to what you are writing about your journey. That’s why I can imagine how tough it was and at the same time how extraordinary your breakthrough moments were.
The moment when I understood that I am entitled to be who I feel I am or who I want to be and discovered that the fear which kept me from understanding this is only an illusion of thoughts I wrote my book “I’m Free”.
I think we have more in common than we might think. I feel blessed tha twe met, dear Lady!

Erica, your comment means SO MUCH to me!! I believe we do have a lot in common and it’s an honor and pleasure to know you. I have plans, big plans to write my autobiography too. I figured I’d start with the blog. I’m also kicking around other platforms like a YouTube channel a podcast. You are so right, our thoughts are just an illusion and when you connect to your higher self you can do anything your heart desires!! Lately I’m connecting with other ladies on both here and on IG that I consider my soul tribe, like we have been cut from the same cloth. Thank you again so much for your kindness and support 💜

Blogging is aleady a great thing to reach many people. I just thought that as soon as you feel ready you could give a TED talk.
I am a big believer that what happens, happens for a reason. I am convinced that no encounter happens accidentially. There are no coincidences in my opinion. When you started blogging, you opened a door and walked a new path. You will meet many people you are meant to meet for your sake and for theirs. Thank you for being here 💖

Freedom? Is when we can make a decision and no longer be held back by the fears of ‘what if, can I really do, am I good enough etc’. The day we understand what holds those fears in place…we will then fly, move mountains and love unconditionally…and smile from our hearts while doing them all. That is freedom 😀

Wow! A wonderful definition of freedom and I can fully relate to it. Fear is truly the only restriction that keeps us from living and from being who we are meant to be. And who are we, if not undoncitional love? Loving unconditionally again is simple freedom since we are not tied to any expectations and therefore again limitations. This is amazingly powerful and highly inspiring, Mark. Thank you so much for your words!!
