We all are products of our habits and our thoughts. Over the years we have come into routines in our lives. Experiences that we stored in our minds have become labeled and whenever a similar experience shows up we open the folder with the fitting label and add it to our collection. We are acting more and more like robots instead of human beings.
There may come moments when we feel that this robotic existence is not fulfilling. We get discontent within our thinking structure. The feelings we get from it are becoming a prison. We start dreaming “It would be so wonderful if I could only… but…”. We are so convinced that what we built up within our minds – no matter what made us build it up – is an unchangeable truth that keeps us from going for what we feel inside. We put all our dreams aside. We put joy aside. We put happiness aside.
What we forgot is that it was we who built up this thinking structure. It was our decision to repeat a thought in our heads until we believed it. It was we who believed what others told us about life and about ourselves. It was us who agreed. It is understandable that we take over thought patterns most of all when we heard things from people we trusted or when we were little and simply did not know it any better. But that doesn’t matter: WE agreed!
We trained ourselves in negative beliefs. Whatever happened in our life we automatically linked to the destructive “truth” we believed in: “Life is hard. Life is mean. Life is a competition. I am wrong. I am not smart enough. I am shy. I am too scared. I will fail.” What pressure. And of course, after a while, many give in because it all feels much too overwhelming.
But remember, as I said, we trained ourselves to believe what we believe today. If we could train ourselves this way, we can train ourselves in every way! What we believe is not a rule we have to follow. It is a decision. Why else would there be so many opinions in this world? Why would there be leaders, inventors, role models, and pioneers who successfully prove the opposite? Not because they are different but because they believe differently. If you are not happy with what you believe about yourself, about life, and about the world then there must be something wrong with that belief. Don’t accept it only because you were told so or because you have believed it for 20 years. None of it is proof that this belief is a truth. The truth is what you make your truth!
I have not always been like this. I was shy, I was insecure, and I was full of self-doubts and fears. Until the moment when I was facing the decision to either break down or break out. I chose the second one. I realized that what I think is my decision and I started practicing thinking what I want to think. To think about what makes me stronger instead of weaker. To think about what brings me closer to my dreams. It was not easy in the beginning. But only after a few weeks, I noticed that many changed thoughts already showed up reflexively. I kept it going and my changed perspective changed my inner world. I got happier, and I started believing in myself (not talking me into anything but really believing), I faced my fears and noticed that they simply disappeared the closer I got to them.
Whatever you believe in today you can change. It is your life and your decision what you want to believe. Don’t let anybody tell you what your world is supposed to look like. It is your world and your home for the lifetime of your body. Decorate it, paint it, travel it, explore it, enjoy it! It is yours to create and the creation starts with a single thought!

Absolutely Erika. We are what we think of ourselves. We are our biggest believers, and so are the spectators too. It depends on us what side of us we want to give a chance. 🙂
