Lately, I have often been thinking of how blessed I was. I have a wonderful home, fantastic grown-up kids who can handle their own lives, a supportive husband, I love my job, and have a great team that makes me feel more appreciated than ever before. Looking back, I am sure that this all was (also) a consequence of “letting go and letting God” and gratitude. The more we are grateful for what we have, the less we think about what we lack. If we don’t focus on what we lack… what do we miss?

As you may have noticed, I am not around as much as I used to. It is just a matter of time and prioritizing between obligations and things that mean a lot to me. However, my blog is about sharing inspiration to make people see a bit more about themselves than they did before. I want to share the miracles of life I was blessed to experience. And in applying them to my life, my life has become a vessel. That vessel still takes me out into stormy seas. But I realized it is up to me how to get through them.

Listening to songs
Of long-gone days
Reminding me of times
When there was little to miss

Thinking about what to write
So much crosses my mind
Still, there are just empty spaces
No topics are to find

This year our equivalent of the American Thanksgiving Day took place on October 2. It is not such a big family celebration as in the USA. But for us, there is a different story behind it. As the name suggests, we celebrate it out of gratitude for nature’s gifts at harvest time and, therefore, always in the fall. There is Thanksgiving Sunday when the priest symbolically blesses harvest gifts during Mass. Although we don’t celebrate this day so exuberantly over here, I think it doesn’t hurt to share some necessary thoughts about gratitude again.

I’m thankful that none of it I experience is in vain.
I’m thankful for nature, for the ocean’s endless wide range.
I’m thankful for each person that gives my view a change.

What means gratitude?
Awareness of the blessings
And the gift of life
In Love and Light
There’s someone there, no matter what
No matter where, no matter when
No effort seems to be too much
When you’re in need of anything
When you are sad or need support
She always has your back
When your schedule is breaking down
She steps right in and saves you from a heart attack
She’s by your side when times are rough
With open heart and ears
She always has advice at hand
She lets you talk and hears
Nothing ever kept her from
Putting her children first
A role model of strength and love
Even when she went through the worst
I’m blessed and thankful you’re my mom
You never let me down
And for today’s Mother’s Day
I’m donning you a crown
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms in this world!

Imagine sitting on the top of a mountain and looking down into the valley. High up above, you see everything from a distance, the bigger picture. You see how streets lead to each other, how small creeks are leading into a river, and how the river flows into a lake. From up there, you understand how everything works together to make it all complete and how necessary every little thing is.

“What shall I be thankful for? My world is only illness, disappointment, and work. I am abused and money is always rare.” It doesn’t always sound bad when asking some people what they are thankful for. Sometimes it even appears many people are actually defending themselves against finding something in life they could be thankful for. It would destroy their negative picture of the world. And this is exactly the origin of their black perspective. Concentrating on the injustice in the world, the own frustration, fear, suffering, or addictions doesn’t let anything else appear. Although it is there it is not recognized.

Did things you were waiting and longing for finally come true? How did it feel? Weren’t you filled with adrenaline? Weren’t you filled with a feeling of immense power? There was happiness, gratitude, and contentment in abundance, right? You saw that in the end things are well. You felt what happiness is about, what joy is about, and perhaps even what life is about. But most of all you felt so very deep in the most positive way. And yes, that is what life is about.

Although the hectic of finding our way through overcrowded stores and getting the last Christmas gifts just in time can be very stressful. But let’s leave that out for a moment and just concentrate on the meaning of Christmas.

Letting go is a topic in everybody’s life at times. Yesterday I was talking to a friend and I realized that during the past weeks, more and more friends are posting about letting go or about their process of letting go. There are so many different reasons or stories behind it. May it be about love, about plans we made, about disappointments, or being hurt. But in the end, we can mostly sum it up to two points:

I will tell you about my experience after A Big Thank You to all of you. I am so moved by how much you all cared. I had never ever expected that. Although I closed the comment section on my last post on Monday many of my wonderful friends sensed something and simply commented in the loveliest ways on a different post. Colleen, Ritu, Zee, and Michelle even stayed in touch with me via email. One year ago almost nobody knew me and today people say I was missed and they make the effort to get in touch with me in order to show me that I am loved… that was overwhelming! I am profoundly touched by so much love, compassion, and care. I don’t know how to thank you. I love you all from the deepest bottom of my heart! And believe me, I missed you all badly! My community rocks!!!

Over here fall slowly turns to winter regarding the rare brown and dry leaves left on the trees. A few weeks ago I took that picture above in a theme park where we spent a day with two of our kids. It was a warm and sunny day. Although it was almost mid-October we wore t-shirts most of the time. It was a beautiful day.

It goes so deep and leaves me with wet eyes all the time.
