Trust the Journey!

Last year, I had a discussion with Colin in the comments to my last Monday post, “The World Waits For You!” Colin said that he did not necessarily trust the journey, but often just resigned himself to the circumstances, which is why he followed certain directions. Still, he moved forward in such constructive ways.

It proves to me that no matter what decision we make and for what reason we do it, it will lead us. We may take a different approach to get to our destination, but we will arrive there. It can make us unhappy not knowing why we are to walk a particular path, which often appears when we resign. But over time, and with repeated experience, we realize that the explanation might follow later. Then even resigning vibrates a different energy, OR resigning turns into trust that there will be a greater context. We begin to trust that uncomfortable changes, broken dreams, or unsuccessful moves will guide us to a better place, even though we cannot see it at that moment. Sometimes, following a new direction by resigning is a great occasion to discover fields that would have been hidden if we had kept resisting.

Other than that, I still believe that when making a decision (even when made by giving in), we need to stick with it. We must follow the road consciously, or we may overlook the reason why we were pushed to walk it, which gives even more meaning to how things come together in the end. So, resigning can be the only tool that makes us walk a path we are supposed to. No matter how tough, dark, and challenging that walk may become, it prepares us for something so much better than we ever had before. We just need to practice to receive (and recognize) what waits for us. At the end of last year, I had a client who went through a hard year. However, she was forced to look deep and see her own value. She needed to realize that she is so much more than others tried to convince her for decades. The being in her has become bigger than the shell that surrounded her, and the process of breaking that shell was painful. But after the many cracks in that shell and lots of pieces that had already fallen off, she saw the light that had always waited for her beyond the blinds.

I am closing this post by sharing some of the inspiring and important messages Colin shared in his comments:

Erika, I love this post, especially this quote :

”We must follow the road consciously, or we may overlook the reason why we were pushed to walk it, which gives even more meaning to how things come together in the end.”

My favorite CEO used to say “be mindful “ when you are doing things. In a land of chaos and confusion, following a process along a journey but allowing for needed deviation will help you accomplish your goal.

Malcolm Gladwell’s “Blink” highlights the success of experienced commanders who knew the plan, but were allowed to make adjustments on the ground if situations warrant it.

Those are good hints again, Keith. Yes, mindfulness and awareness for whatever we do will show us so much and also may make us see faster new opportunities and possibilities. Sitting and complaining does not really support us, but rather look up and around and see what you can make of what you have here and now!

This is an amazing world in that crazy path we follow. I moved home, family, life to another place on the coast with the promise of a job. It of course fell through and it literally left me hanging. Jobs were scarce so I grabbed anything I could. And it was one job as a cleaner at a college, which had me at the right place at the right time to apply for a job in computer engineering. I loved it, which many years later led me into doing my Remedial Massage Therapy at that college which I loved even more, and of course my spiritual healing through that, which just is now me.

So I started a cleaner to find myself on a path I never knew, to a world of wonder. This journey and the paths we take does indeed speak to us, as we need to, even if we don’t recognise it in the beginning.

Great post Erika, it is indeed a life of light, even if it dims occasionally 🤗❤️🙏

Your story is such a good example that one step leads to the next and each one is necessary to get to that next one. It all is so wonderfully orchestrated together. The only thing we need is faith and openness to follow the signs. The first step may not make much sense but does in the further run. Thank you for adding your experience, Mark 💖

What ever decisions we make cause an internal and external reaction. There can be a lesson learned in resigning and experienced gain as you continue on your path. A lot of good info to absorb here.

I agree! That is why not making a decision is also a decision with consequences. We learn from them (hopefully) to make it different or to continue the direction… and that is all in constant development. Therefore there is no wrong or right, actually!

I 100% agree with Colin. There are always positive in any situation. We know everyone’s journey is different and individual, so there is absolutely no judgement. All we can do is mindfully walk our path, hold onto trust and see where it leads. Happy New Year, Erika!

Happy New Year, Jan!!
Right: No judgement! How can anyone know what is best for me and how I am supposed to achieve it, right? Not even I always “know” it, and that is where guidance joins the game.

Oh, thank you, Michael! I wish you a happy and healthy New Year too!
Yes, I agree. I don’t believe in coincidences. To me nothing happens in vain but always for a reason, when even we cannot recgnize it yet. And believing that we need to recall when doubt kicks in.
