Lately, I’ve been thinking about how my life has unfolded and what events had to come together for certain outcomes to happen. I love looking back on the little things that ultimately had a big impact. It’s amazing how circumstances come together as soon as a thought begins to take root, and how those circumstances can lead you in any direction. Just the other day, my boss suggested a special assignment at our company. I turned it down right away because I didn’t think I was qualified enough. But as we talked about it, it didn’t seem so impossible anymore. When I thought about it on my own, it suddenly dawned on me how perfectly this actually fits into a bigger plan I’d had in mind for the next two to five years.

Lately, some AI researchers warn that artificial intelligence could threaten humanity within a decade because labs are racing toward uncontrollable superintelligence. I instantly remembered a post I wrote 8.5 years ago. Even back then, this development and the pace at which it was advancing frightened me. So, now, even experts speak clearly. And in addition to the digital threat, using AI places a heavy burden on the environment due to the enormous consumption of electricity, water, and resources in data centers. As I was packing for our vacation, I wondered which book to bring along. My gaze wandered across my bookshelf and finally settled on a book I had read nearly 20 years ago. After years of working on myself, this book turned out to be the final piece of the puzzle I needed to finally find the door leading out of my prison of self-doubt and fears. It prepared me to find the key within myself. I took it off the shelf, opened it to a random page, and read the paragraph my eyes fell on. The book is called Your Sacred Self by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. When I had my breakthrough, I realized that my fears were based on thoughts I believed to be true since they had been taught to me from childhood on until adulthood. It was one of my greatest fears to share my opinion and thoughts, since I was terrified to be questioned or told in humiliating ways how wrong I was. Therefore, it was so relieving to let go of this fear, too. I promised myself I would no longer hide my truth if that meant denying myself. That’s when I began writing my book “I’m Free.” In it, I freely shared my experiences and the paths that led me out of my many prisons (still processing). Whenever possible, I also draw on examples from my own life in my posts. By doing so, I risk people close to me reading them, but I’m no longer afraid of that.

My little post from two weeks ago Fake It Till You Make It triggered some very interesting and inspiring conversations. It also led to thoughts about how to overcome fear. Someone who was never limited and ruled by fears cannot understand what a liberation it is to break through those fears and see life in a completely new light. It is like standing above a mountain, and overlooking all the options and possibilities that suddenly appear, while understanding that they have always been there.

I was about to tell a story about an incident in my family, which totally upset me. I still do not have the right words for how immature, irresponsible, and negligent someone can be, only to fulfill their own needs while risking the health of an elderly person. However, I decided differently since there are so many “simple” people out in the world (just look at the leader in the US) who won’t change anyway. It is just sad to get that confirmed again, and you cannot do anything about it, but being even more aware of that fact.

I know a couple of weeks ago, I shared a post with a similar message, but it appears this topic needs more attention. In February, my husband and I attended Amy Macdonald’s concert in Zurich. She is a Scottish singer and songwriter. Her songs have a style I love, and together with her voice and the way she uses it, they captivate me. Her songs have accompanied me for about 20 years. Especially one album found me at a time her songs totally went along with my path around my breakthrough. I haven’t listened to the songs from that album, This Is The Life, for a while. Now, when she performed some of those songs at the concert, I was back in time, and it was fantastic. Especially one song hit home again. Its message was a fundamental part of my new perspective and choice to live.

Since I have been even busier planning and organizing for the past two weeks, my level of inspiration is not very high. A couple of weeks ago, I discussed the negative feelings about Mondays with a friend. We were talking about why Monday is connected to something negative. My friend said it was because the relaxing stress-free weekend was over and people had to return to a job they really don’t enjoy. Of course, hanging around without appointments, sleeping long, meeting friends, or enjoying a trip somewhere is fun. But doing it for weeks, months, or years without having a task to fulfill, would that be fulfilling? We all have a purpose to fulfill. Sooner or later we would become discontent.

In May, I am entering my 12th blogging year. That fact made me think back to the past years here on WordPress. When I started, I had no idea or imagination of what blogging would be like, so I had no real expectations. My publisher set up the first version of my blog for me to promote my book, “I’m Free.” They taught me the basics of how to post and how to gain followers. I am glad I did not know much in advance because that way, I learned even more for life.

This is more or less a sequel from last week’s post to show how a perfectionist’s mind can get you in the way. A couple of weeks ago, I had this profound insight moment. You know I have published my latest book in May. I have done a lot of marketing in different areas since. As a self-publisher, this is not easy, but a lot of work. Then, aside from kind comments on the related posts, it seemed as if it was not recognized. After a while, I felt some frustration building up and I noticed that something was going wrong. This is not how I want things to be. This is not who I want to be. This is not who I am. With the distance, I looked at everything, I was not surprised that such an attitude (the book is only one outlet of that inner concept) can lead neither to satisfaction nor to health.

A few weeks ago I picked up one of Walsch’s books and began to read the first pages. After I read the short list of the 25 core messages to explain the main message (in the title) I stopped reading. It was so inspiring and my mind started spinning. Before I read on I want to share the flow of pictures and thoughts of some of those core messages that immediately filled me. Most of those core messages won’t appear new since we are talking about them over and over again. We all share them in our own words. We are afraid of being criticized about how we do it or even THAT we do it. We are afraid that people are making fun of us because we are doing something they might have never dared to do themselves. Or we are afraid because our project also means showing a part of us which we kept hidden for a long. But there comes a time when all those fears are not strong enough anymore to keep us from going for our dreams. They cannot keep us from stepping out of our comfort zone anymore. We are full of excitement and enthusiasm and yes, we try it with all our heart and passion. And then it happens…. the door opens up!
