When I thought about today’s poem, nothing would come to my mind. After a few moments, I was humming a song from the early 90s. I remembered an old school friend sent it to me after he learned about me writing poems. He said it was playing in his head after he read my poems. Although the song is rather melancholic, it never misses to touch my heart because it is connected with many memories of a time long ago. And then the poem almost wrote itself…
Music and Memories
A memory triggered by music
Can touch a heart so deep
It opens a door inside
Plays movies precious and sweet
A memory triggered by music
Can fill an empty space
That we may have forgotten
But brings back good old days
Tell Me A Poem – Papermoon
In Love and Light

Did you know it? Barely people outside of Austria know this one. But I think the song is catchy and the lyrics are beautiful too.

I always find that amazing how music ‘touches’ us. Almost like it triggers our ‘feel good’ endorphins. A certain frequency relaxes us and drives those emotions and memories. A great verse Erika, as is the music. Haven’t heard that one but even the train station shot with her words brings up emotions all its own 🤗❤️🙏

Indeed, also a new song can trigger something in us. I think this one goes easy into the ear and further to the heart. Music is a language of its own with its own “keywords” that takes us somewhere deep in side – heart or mind. Thank you, Mark 💖

What you say about music is so true, and is why it is so important to me.
And thank you for the nice song – I’d never heard of it or the singer before 😊

It is an Austrian band that had a few nice songs. But they probably did not make it far into other countries. At least, I have the opportunity to introduce them here. The song is lovely, isn’t it?

I looked them up on Wikipedia but they don’t say whether any of their records have been chart hits, either in Austria or anywhere else. It is a nice song 😊

I just checked Wikipedia:
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papermoon_(Duo)
It is German but maybe there is an English translation available. “The World in Lucy’s Eyes” was another hit of them.

That is the German version of the page I saw. It does mention that they had a lot of success with their first three albums but I missed that: I was looking at the discography which is where they usually give details of chart placings. But in this case they don’t 🤣

Music can take back to moments and we remember them vividly. Amazing how music communicates with our brain and senses.
Wonderful poem of course 🌞

Music is such an amazing tool. It brings up memories, makes us express ourselves, carries us with our current feelings, or tell stories words could never do. Thank you, Sylvester!
