Living gratefully!
Listening to songs
Of long-gone days
Reminding me of times
When there was little to miss
Times of ease and joy
Of hopes and big dreams
Unburdened and safe
Not sure what life really means
I wish I had treasured more
The time of little responsibility
Little did I know
What it means to become “free”
The time was good
Thankful, I had it
But thankful too
That today, I create it
Don’t want to go back
Just one single day
Each moment I live
I shape my life my way
In Love and Light

Erika, what a powerful stanza:
I wish I had treasured more
The time of little responsibility
Little did I know
What it means to become “free”
I go immediately to kids hanging out on a summer day without a care, but longing to be an adult. Then, later they realize being an adult comes up with responsibilities, bills, etc.

That was exactly the picture I had in mind, Keith! Complaining of having so little freedom and wanting to be an adult vs. looking back from the adult perspective. It is cool to know that I could convey the picture. Thanks a lot, Keith!

Erika, there is a great line from Bob Seger’s “Against the wind” that goes:
”I wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then.”
Fits right in into your theme.

That’s a good line. I think many of us can relate. However, I am glad I know now and maybe even glad, I did not know then what “freedom” means… the motivation might have been affected by it… 😄

Well written Erika, many those younger bits made us but not truly understood…until now. Maybe we are a nice cheese that requires a bit of time to mature, build some mold to age us a little, and get us ready for that wisdom that time teaches. Great post kind lady, your verse a wisdom ripened well 🤣❤️🙏

I think only time teaches in the end. Only time brings the distance and shows us the difference between our past and present self. Thank you very much, Mark, I appreciate that 😄

Indeed Erika, and like all those opposites in this universe, ‘up there’ has no time at all. It is quite unusual but so beautiful in itself. The ‘I AM’ takes on a whole new meaning as you do stand in ‘that moment’ constantly. That perfection 🤗❤️🙏

I so get you, Mark! I may have been already close to that I AM feeling but I am sure there is so much more about it. Only imagining that feeling of being is amazing. Time does not exist but for some developments we need the tool of time which we find in this physical world. This place here is only a learning spot within this big universe of countless possibilities. Perfection indeed!

Awh, that’s a very lovely thing to say, Annette! I mostly go with things that are happening around me or what’s crossing my mind. I am very happy when it does the trick. Thank you 💖

A sentiment I’d dare say most of us have felt at one time or another. But go back? Nah. Everything brought me to today and today isn’t bad. 💕💕💕

I agree, Jan! It is a blessing to have good memories of our youth. There is a line in my first song I recorded: Whatever I went through, made me who I am – I would do it again! 💖
