Have you experienced this, too? For example, you had a job that challenged you, and whenever you thought of it, you felt stressed and, at times, overwhelmed. Maybe you even developed resistance, which only increased that stress and generated even more resistance. Then you have a new job, and although it is completely different, you still feel that stress coming up. It is a hint that the stress may have nothing to do with any job but with how your mind works on autopilot.
Although the circumstances changed, the mindset still runs the same program. You are already calm again by stepping back and looking at the current situation. Isn’t it amazing how we can influence ourselves consciously only on a particular set of thoughts we think? The older we get, the easier it is to open a file in our database to recall feelings or emotions from former experiences. Actors use this tool to portray credible emotions. They dig into their memories.
It is incredible how instantly and reflexively this works. Most of the time, we are unaware that it is not reality but a triggered memory. A song, a keyword, a name, or any other trigger can unconsciously open that file in us and cause a reflexive reaction, physically or mentally. But once we know this detail, we can consciously open those files to our favor. Just try something out:
Think of something negative in your memory. In a split second, the feelings of that past situation come up. Now, it is in your hands, how deep you want to get into it. The same thing can be achieved on the positive side. If feelings of overwhelm and resistance regarding that new job occur, I can turn to a clear statement: I want to do it, and I can do it! Again, if I really want to go in that direction and feel what I want to believe, in a split second, warmth fills my chest automatically. I take a deep breath of relief, and everything looks brighter. I realize that the negative thought was not the truth but an image of a memory that my mind relates to a current situation.
We can use any images in our minds to create our mood, to motivate or demotivate us. The experiences in the past may have left their imprints on us. The longer they had time to work on us, the deeper the imprints. But at any moment, we have the choice to pick thoughts and memories that make us feel good and support us. That way, we can create new and positive experiences the mind will retrieve in similar circumstances. However, if we excuse our moods with our past, it is a choice, not a destiny.
Don’t just believe what your mind retrieves.

Interesting post Erika! I agree, it is amazing how calling up experiences from our past creates such vivid memories, and reactions it happens to me all of the time!

There is so many data in our mind. Some pop up reflexively since the mind sends them according to similar experienced situations to help the physical being deal with it. The experience of that reflex (if applied) might confirm the former experience and is again stored in that same file in the mind. Once we understand that thoughts can be chosen and not just accepted, we begin to consciously react.

Erika, good post. Aristotle said we are creatures of habit. Often, we do things by rote that we do not realize we are doing. We become passengers in our own lives. As you note, we need to change the paradigm. Keith

Yes, exactly! It is in recognizing the passenger in us and the potential of the driver. Thank you, Keith!

I practise this all the time, Erika. Whenever I am feeling down or stress comes through the door, I go to a happy place in my mind. But I used this practice for something new this week when I had a tooth extraction. I told the dentist that I was going to another place while she did the work. It helped. However, her instructions to breathe deeply and slowly while giving me injections in my gums also helped a lot.

Isn’t it amazing to witness how well we can influence ourselves. Too often, we do it unconsciously in a reflexive negative way. Your example proves that it works perfectly well on the positive way! In the end, it is only a mind-thing. Thanks for sharing you thoughts and experience, Hugh!

I’ve got so many life points that I can either view positively or negatively. The concern is my natural recourse is too often to seek out the negative elements. This can really hold me back

We are so used to look at the negative part rather and first than the positive part. We are wasting time by complaining or moaning about a problem rather than checking ways for a solution. If we are able to turn that attitude around, we had more time, would feel more secure, and had more self-esteem because we know that nothing can really put us down… quite a process … but doable.

This thing we call “reality” is somewhat a mentally simulated experience, to some degree. Though we can’t fully comprehend it since the same mind is the tool we use to understand that concept. Like you said, since we have that awareness, we can then use it to our advantage.

That is such a good point, Sanjo. Indeed, the way our mind works an influences our feelings creates what we see as our reality which we try to understand with our mind. Realizing this may help to step back and look at everything from a distance. That way we see that we are not part of our reality but its creator – let’s influence ourselves to feel good and create a reality that mirrors it. Thank you for your input, Sanjo.

“The universe is mental” is one of the hermetical principles. Through quantum mechanics, we can somehow understand beyond physical matter lies wave forms, which are just invisible energies. what we see is different variations of arrangements of those wave forms. So what we see is just a vibration match of our thoughts, feelings, and emotions, so I agree with you. We are not only parts but also creating it in real time. At least, that’s what we can speculate with our limited minds, but it makes total sense. You’re so welcome, dear Erika. I always love your writings.

Wow, you explained this so well that also my rational mind constantly nodded.I love it when what we feel can even be explained scientifically. That is why I love Gregg Braden’s teachings. It makes so much sense what you say. Thank you, Sanjo!

It’s just that most people tend to ignore such things, but when you look at it, everything has a cause and effect… What fascinates me is that science has ignored spirituality, and that’s where the gap begins.
You’re more than welcome, dear Erika.

You are absolutely right! I often ponedered why scientists are not even interested to explore spirituality and find scientific explanations. It is such an interesting field and would help to understand ourselves much better.

I think it’s due to some people with power trying to hide the truth from plain sight, and it’s for a purpose to make us weak and easy to control. They call spiritual “woo woo” to make it seem crazy while it has been something that has made ancient civilizations grow. There’s a lot of things hidden, my friend.

Unfortunately, I know it from companies that some people rule their colleagues with pre-knowledge. Keeping people dumb is, unfortunately, a popular method to control them.
Politics and power rule the world, who doesn’t know. They know more about visitors from other planets than we can imagine. Only think of the many alternatives that have been already invented to get away from fossil energies… we could have a much better world. But money still talks loudest and people at specific spots can direct information and developments…

Speaking of visitors from other planets, I am about to watch an interview with Dolores Cannonn on YouTube about UFO 🛸 and aliens 👾….she was such a great person who helped raise human consciousness. Yes, money and power are still ruling the world. People are still clinging on things that don’t matter! We still have a longer way to go. All we have to do is stop playing their games.

Profound words Erika, as these are…’However, if we excuse our moods with our past, it is a choice, not a destiny.’…and where our biggest growth happens kind lady.
Change is a powerful thing, and because we ever search for that love and happiness…we know when we are not there and ‘try’ something else. And as you said, we have to break those old patterns and go beyond them to find what we are looking for. It is indeed a big journey, but is not that inner love worth every step.
Great post kind lady, may we dare to go beyond what we are and become something more. Let go what no longer serves and believe in what we want to be. Thank you 🤗❤️🙏

Just today, I talked to my boss and he said, we receive these challenges to grow. Not the kind of challenge defines our destiny but how we handle the challenge. That is where we find our individuel development and personal life path.

Beautifully said Erika… In an instance we have that choice to turn our belief around from a negative to a positive… And as you said.. Some imprints have been worked upon us for a life time, woven into our belief system…
I feel in the not to distant future we may well have to relearn as we unlearn much of the programming .. as we retrieve our true data 😉 instincts 🙂 xx
Much love dearest Erika… xx ❤

Right, only when we shift our thoughts, can we achieve different results. As Einstein said: “You can’t solve a problem with the same mindset that created it.” I think the big challenge is to see that we think thoughts that make us stand in our own way. Thank you very much, Gene, you have a great one too!

Thank you, dear Erika. Dr. Joe~ yes! I believe in the heart and mind healing. I have a friend who wants to do a healing session with me. It’s so true our “retrievals” can be of resilience or a regurgitation of ridicule towards ourselves. May we terminate triggers of pain with thoughts that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and true! Fear is such a liar! Much love and hugs dear sister. Your wisdom and insight inspires me. ♥️♥️🥰❤️🙏🏻💚

Indeed, when we want understanding, respect, support, we need to give it in the first place, If someone acts offensive against us (which maybe is only a subjective perception), let’s act how we would like that person to treat us. Whatever we want, we have it inside. Neale Donald Walsch wrote: “The best way to get something is to give it to others first. If you want to feel happy, cause it in another person. If you want to feel respected, cause it in another person. Whatever you want to have or be, support others to be it… and it will come back to you.” At least with similar words.
I just said, that it is a reminder for myself. We forget that we have a powerful tool within us. There is no limit to what we can create, except we limit ourselves.
Thank you, dear Karla, it is always a joy to have you over 💖

Erika, you’re a treasure. My heart, head, and soul are nodding. Life has been so busy with my visits to my sons, my Dad’s unexpected hospital visit, my health, teaching part-time as a sub,…YOU GET IT. Thank you both so much. When I returned from my trip to my son, we took Dad to his follow up. Keep in mind, Dad was once an educator and athlete. He’s small statured and has overcome 2 cancers, a craniotomy, congestive heart failure….one cancer resulted in a Whipple procedure. He’s been completely reliant on pacemaker for 10 years. Follow up echocardiogram showed MORE fluid, not less like we prayed after a month of medicine. Then, an angiogram showed 4 blocked arteries and a bad valve. The top surgeon kept dad after that. Had the family gather to discuss that open heart was the only way. But very risky. We all gathered a week ago Saturday at hospital to talk to surgeon. By Sunday he (the surgeon) decided HE felt it too risky and to just drain the fluid.
A week ago today he drained 750 cc’s around the heart. My usual “with it” Dad has become much weaker and is down to 150 lbs. my precious momma is showing signs of dementia and I have a disabled older sister and niece (her daughter with cerebral palsy~age 29~that my parents have raised). I can share all of this because you are both my friends and can pray specifically. My stage 4 cancer, to which I’ll fly to Maryland on Sunday for more scans and bloodwork) adds another layer. We all life complications. Today I decided to walk in the woods ~ I needed it. With achy bones I prayed for guidance and clarity. And strength. I was able to leave there and drive to my little home community, grocery shop for them, and bring laughter and love. It was God~and a power and presence in which I surrendered so that we could all be embraced with joy and positivity ~even in uncertainty and pain. And a few giggles too! I’m tired. So tired. But I’ll boast in my weakness as I know my source of strength.
I’m sorry to share so much~but it’s cleansing too!
I love that our time here is a nice respite of our lives and a place to be energized through our endearing friendships!! However I can pray for you all, share away! I’m supporting you as you do me. Much love and light!💕🙌🏻🙏🏻

Never excuse for sharing what is going on in you and in your life, dear Karla. I honor and appreciate your trust and openness, my friend.
To be honest, it took me a bit to gather myself after I had read what you wrote. I know that nothing in this universe is a punishment and very often we don’t understand why things happen. I totally accept that. Still, reading your current circumstances makes me question why a group of people is so challenged. It is not up to me to judge and I definitely won’t but I really hope that the good vibes, the love, and smiles you share here and in your surroundings will return in multiple blessings for you and your whole family.
I will send you and yours light and love. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. Much, much love to you, dear Karla 💖

Thank you, sweet Erika. Your words mean more than you know, my friend. Thank you for allowing this place to be one where I can share. There was a time in my life I “hid” it. Not anymore! 🙂
I’ve struggled with similar thoughts as yours—and then, when I see the miraculous results that transpire from the circumstances–more empathy, wisdom, knowledge, compassion, and yes, even through tears at times, I have found a joy that is unexplainable. So you understand my spiritual depth and belief. For when I lost it all, God was there and when you know, you know.
I see challenges as opportunities of growth. It allows me to pay forward to others and have a lens of love. I guess it could’ve kept making me bitter. But bitter’s bad taste didn’t suit me, Erika. So I chose the alternative.
You have to know….my family has a crazy sense of humor. We might cry at times, but we have some good laughs. Even this morning, I had breakfast with an ex. Ah, grace. So far, for me, time has healed wounds. I have some new ones (and scars!). When things were going well for me–a good career, marriage, great house on the lake, two kids, cars, campers, etc…everything was…convenient. My life in my RV for 4 years when I heard the words, ‘I want a divorce’ (again!) rocked my world. And then, health,…career loss,…my family…
At one time I didn’t want to live. It’s not that I wanted to be away from my sons or family. I just didn’t want pain. Yet, through pain, I found the source of true healing in God. In loss, I found true love in him.
I don’t take one hour for granted. Not one!
Today I met with my cancer support group via ZOOM (they’re in Los Angeles). We spread across the globe. We all have unique experiences and challenges. Just like you do, too, my friend. For many “cancer” takes different forms–disease, hate, apathy, loneliness, heartbreak…
I’m so glad to know the source of my joy and love. For cancer will never take that! And neither will this world!
Thank YOU for being YOU! Much much love to you, dear friend. ❣️❣️🙏🤗🥰

This is quite a journey, you have had it all – literally ALL! It appears that you want to get the whole dose of awareness within one incarnation. Whatever life provided for you, it has come along with depth. You live the extremes. You learn in such a depth with so much understanding of how this all is connected. And yes, that is what I witnessed so often: When you lose everything that is connected to the physical world, you onle understand what you can never lose through what is left: the divine being and the connection to its source that has always existed and will always exist.
I cannot judge since I don’t recall such an experience but it must be so liberating on one hand. I think it is seen clearly what really matters (and I would not even say in life but from a much higher perspective onto all life and what life really is).
I totall get that when you said, at one point you did not want to live. It is just that exhausting standing up over and over again that one wants to end while at the same time, of course, you don’t want to leave the ones you love.
Looking at it from a physical position, it is a paradox that you find real joy in the most challenging situations. However, (and as the subtitle of my book says) “Awareness of who you are by discovering who you are not”. All the stages you have been going through in your life led you there. I so pray that you are making it past that test soon that you can start over with all the love and joy of your being to share your insights with the world.
Thank you for your trust and for letting me be part of your journey and experience, my dearest friend 💖

Thank you, dear Mark. In many ways, it was a different life ago. I’m so far removed from it, (and the destroyed pieces are dust), that all that remains is the good stuff of life~ and I’m grateful! If I can help others on their journeys, it’s all worth it! Mark, you know these things don’t happen overnight (I wish it had ~for I know Jesus has, will, and can do that!), but with me, I needed time alongside him. He said, “Karla, I needed you alone so you’d be completely reliant on me!” Yep! I feel his love through you too, Mark, and you’re such a giver of love and light too! Healing physically is a challenge; yet, my emotional healing process has given me inner strength to overcome. My stoicism has given me an attitude of “I was never hurt”, it just “happened” and I learn no matter what. The sign? It came in Tuesday morning in the woods. Can you imagine that? Tee hee. Perfect hearts everywhere! I woke up another day! I’m sending lots of love and hugs to you too! Please take care! ❤️🥰🙏🏻🤗🐾🐾

The understanding of His love is a very profound and powerful thing Karla. We begin thinking the world has aimed everything at us, but very slowly we ‘see’ a purpose, our faith building and a hope of things to come. It is hard but in that understanding would we go without what we have now found. And time itself seems to draw out so much, but that too is a very profound learning curve. And you are absorbing that beautifully kind lady.
And we are allowed to fall down occasionally, it gives us the privilege of feeling His strength, understanding His pain, and appreciating that He has given us all of this so that we can understand His unconditional love.
Big hugs Karla, much love to you, Finn and family, and many prayers for you all too. And for your Sunday scans as well. And your right, a sure sign is your heart opening to His love. Take care, be free, be well in that love kind lady 🤗🥰❤️🙏

This is so amazing to recall this all. You and I, we both are aware of it. Still, we fall into old unconscious pattern in our daily lives. Lately, I get confronted with this from all sides, now even with my own post (which I scheduled a couple weeks ago). Let’s be what we want to see, let’s see what we want to be!

Another great message Erika, and what immediately came to mind is a little statement that I was introduced to many years ago ………… “Perspective is reality”. It is so true that how we see things becomes our reality but, as you put it so well, we can change how we see things!
LikeLiked by 1 person
That’s well put: Perspecitiv is reality! Our perception is what we see as our personal truth at the current moment. And from that perspective we create our future. I should have added the quote Wayne Dyer shared so often: “When we change the look at things, the things we look at change.” However we see something we will get confirmed. Being aware of that, consciously perceiving with the desired outcome in mind would support our creativity in a direction we want.
