#JustAThought – Ego: Devil or Guiding Assistance?

Another quick thought for today. Was it really the devil who tempted Adam and Eve, which consequently locked them out of paradise? Or was it their developing egos that led them to understand what paradise meant?

I see the ego as our own created challenging system. It may lead us into misunderstandings, but by recognizing them, we understand what is real and what is creation. Also, it makes us see our creative powers that we use too often against us. Over time, we identify them as tools for success.

I don’t see the ego as our enemy but as the tester of our steadfastness and the path to our insight. It is a product of our imagination. What we can imagine, we can be. The longer we deal with it, the more we can find out how far it has taken us, how much it has taught us, and how we can use it to our advantage. Once we understand the testing character of the ego, we begin to compete, to prove it and ourselves that we are better, stronger, more courageous, and smarter than it tries to convince us.

In my opinion, the ego is the path to enlightenment. It makes us see the difference between paradise and everything else. Once we see its purpose, we can transform it into a supportive tool. Today, I thank my ego; it pushed me to a point where I had to decide whether to let it rule me or me rule it. Thus, it made me overcome the limitations it tried to put on me. It made me stronger. I would not be where I am without its pushy voice.

And that is exactly the essence, in my opinion. The ego is a personal creation. We are our ego’s creators. No matter how it is today, we decide how it is going to look like tomorrow. We can even make it our servant.

Oh, thank you so much, Sis. It is something we deal with every day and often think we need to fight it. But our ego is our creation. Why fighting it? Let’s simply recreate it. Since it is our creation we might know its weak spots pretty well… 💖

The ego is a ‘tester’ wherever we are…and like so much else in this world there is always an opposite so we can measure and see where we are. Otherwise how would we know to go here or there, back away or go further forward. Especially in those stronger emotions like fear.

We go from hiding behind it to gradually letting our own courage and light lead us beyond it. The one thing that silences the ego is understanding. To stand in our truth silences it.

Great post kind lady, thank you for sharing your silence 🤣❤️🙏

I believe so too. The ego tries to control us with fear for example. It wants to tell us that we are not good enough or not worthy until we see the misunderstanding and in proving it wrong, we can generate so much power and motivation to break through its distorting veil and realize how much more we actually are. Indeed, in silence, we can differ much easier between ego and soul. That’s why meditation takes us closer to who we really are.

Thank you very much, Mark 💖

Erika, I see your point, but I believe there is a dark side to ego as well. To me, it is a two faced coin where one side challenges us and the other side is our Achilles’ Heel. Keith

I agree, it can be tricky to completely analyze the ego and use its qualities FOR us. But if we can reveal parts of it, it is already helpful. My ego used to (and still trys to) make me afraid when ever I had the chance to achieve something that made me stand in the spotlight. I used to say no and hide. Until the moment when I saw that my ego was also pretty stubborn and never wanted to show any weakness in front of others. So, I said YES before I pondered too long and then I had to pull through because it would have embarrassed me to draw back. I would not have come this far with singing, if I had not started this attitude 😄

I used to be afraid of being the center of attention since I could fail. When you sing, of course, you are in the center of attention. I was taught that failure is no option. So, I needed to find a way to get over this. I discovered how to trick myself to live my dream. So, I said, yes before the ego talked me into pulling back.

We should always watch ourselves in a way to make the best of what we have. The ego can be a limiter but also a force that pushes us to higher levels – just a question of how to use it.
