Three weeks ago, we spent some wonderful days in a spa hotel in the German/Austrian Alps. Since I know that many of you would like to see some pictures, I am happy to share some of the impressions with you.
We went to Balderschwang (appr. 1’000 m above sea level), which is just over the Austrian border in Germany. Our arrival day was the nicest day as far regarding the weather (and so was the weather on the departure day). So we decided to go for a walk in the afternoon. The first two photos were taken directly from our hotel room. Then you can see a shot looking towards our hotel and the small village, followed by some impressions from our walk:
The next day it poured almost all day. Since we had booked treatments anyway, we decided to spend the day at the hotel by the pool (a warm infinity pool indoors and outdoors) – after a workout in the hotel gym, of course. For the next day, we planned to go to Oberstdorf, which is known for its ski flying and ski jumping hills. When I opened the curtains in the morning, I was greeted by the first snow of the season.
Can you imagine jumping into the sky from this height? 😱
As I said, we had fantastic weather on our departure day and decided to have dinner in a restaurant on the opposite mountain range at 1’806 m above sea level, accompanied by one of our children. We went there by cable car and experienced a very special atmosphere. On one side of the mountain it was already dark, while on the other side the sky was still glowing.
The follwoing shot was taken towards that mountain chain from our house a day later. The snow has already gone again.
Psst… last weekend we spent a couple days in South Tyrol (Italy). I will be back with some photos from Meran and Bozen soon…

I’m smiling. Breathtaking views. Plus I’ve been hooked on Ski Jumping since I was a kid. Would love to see it first real, especially 4 hills and oberstdorf

Oh, yes, so that would be paradise for your ski jumper heart. The Four Hills Tournament, I see. All of those arenas are not far away from each other. I have been at the one in Bischofshofen too. Still, I cannot imagine how suicidal I would have to be to throw myself down there 😂

Beautiful! I miss travelling. I didn’t do a lot of it pre-pandemic, but some 😉

We did some few trips a year but not too much. Since last year we traveled a lot more to explore the closer regions. Actually it is not always necessary to travel far. Thank you for stopping by😊

This is beautiful country Erika, you must be st a loss of what to do first. And since your suffering so terribly I got the concierge to slip a couple of dolphins into the pool for you, can’t have you bored can we? 😂 🤣
But I can feel the cold, there’s probably enough ice on those ramps to test out a garbage lid for a ride. Mind you, those top shots make you realize just what height those skiers do come down from. Maybe I might stick to walking 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋 😂 🤣

LOL! Those poor dolphins would have suffered. Better leave them in Australia and share your views, Mark… lol. I think for a sleigh ride it was a little too early but this week those areas may get quite a first load of snow.
Oh, and talking about skiing… I am rather sticking to walking too… haha.

I don’t know, but this year (or at least the second half of the year) I feel the need to explore the world… lol
Thank you, Annette. I am happy that you like when I am sharing a bit of those trips. There are so many beautiful places on this planet and one person cannot visit them all.
