Most of the time, I have something on my mind that inspires me to write my posts. It’s something I’ve heard or seen that gets me thinking, something from our interactions here on WordPress, or something I’ve experienced that comes back to me. But sometimes I sit in front of my laptop and have “nothing on my mind.”
Then I just start writing something, and for some reason, a topic takes shape. Every time I finished a post like that, I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in reading it. And you know what? It’s exactly those posts that often get the most attention and the best engagement. I’m sure that’s because my mind was taking a break. These posts were written for someone or something that didn’t necessarily have anything to do with me. I was just the writing tool for something that needed to be shared. The reactions proved that every time. So that was my thought when I started writing this post, because I couldn’t think of anything. And that’s exactly what made it a topic!
We have a brain for a reason. We need to understand and follow general rules, distinguish between right and wrong, speak, listen, drive a car, operate machines, translate, do math, and much more. We need it for all these everyday tasks and for the development of our intellect. But when it comes to personal, deeper issues, our mind can also get in the way. Perhaps these issues arose simply because we were trapped in our thoughts and allowed them to explain or forbid something we couldn’t comprehend. Perhaps it was our minds that told us (based on past experiences) to stay silent instead of voicing our opinion, because then we wouldn’t risk causing disharmony. Or we don’t try anything new because we might fail, and people would label us as failures. Even when we seek explanations for our emotions and persistent problems, the mind quickly and rationally explains everything… or maybe not… it depends on how someone thinks, and thoughts can be freely chosen. What I mean by this is that thoughts rarely tell the truth, but rather reflect our current state of mind. So if we want to resolve something that lies beneath our thoughts, we must set them aside for a moment.
This happens, for example, during meditation. But it can also arise in a quiet moment, through a “trigger word,” or in a relaxed atmosphere. We calm the mind and allow the wisdom of the soul to rise to the surface. All the answers we need lie within the soul. Depending on the nature of the problem, we receive suggestions, hints, or even clear answers. Nevertheless, the mind can act as a filter, weighing how “reasonable or logical” a budding thought might be. I believe the first step in freeing the mind from a web of old, worn-out thoughts is to trust these answers—or at least to consider giving them a voice. Then individuality takes precedence over general principles. This means daring to think and believe what one has not thought or believed before, or to do what one has not done before. I am not saying one should ignore the mind. But it should pull in the same direction as the voice of the heart and organize the earthly path, while the soul points out the plan.
This mindset can be a powerful ally. With an open attitude, we can achieve anything and will always find ways to realize our goals. However, with a mindset that holds us back, we will never reach where we truly want to go. That way, we can tell whether our heart and mind are in alignment or pulling in different directions – these are the inner tensions we feel.
Yes to thinking, but not in a way that limits our abilities and our growth.

Your post brings to mind a couple of expressions, “have an open mind” and “when you put your mind to it you can do anything”. It is amazing how our mind works and how it generates solutions, as well as problems based on experience or inexperience. Brain, heart, mind and soul working in unison unlocks the great potential we have within.

That’s perfectly summed up, Sylvester. Yes, the mind is a power tool and we have constant access to create or destroy, due to how we use it. The more the brain is in tune with the heart, the more we are coming back to ourselves and the more we are walking the path meant for this lifetime – which doesn’t mean it is free of rocks. But we walk it authentically and therefore with all our life! Thank you for sharing your inspiring thoughts, Sylvester!

It begins with just the thinking practicalities Erika, one foot in front of the other. Then you judge heights so you don’t trip. Then skipping, dancing until you can fly. Basic principles of thinking.
But I found that as we grow that inner wisdom and perception increases and becomes more fine tuned. And in whatever we do, there is that inner something within us that becomes much lighter, truthful and healing as time goes by. We change from that practical body into something more profound…almost like a caterpillar, until that urge to do something different, and change into something incredible.
And love does it every time. To our family, relationships, until finally we finally love us…again. And become something that we realize that it took everything before this, that thinking mind, to reach this something now. That there really isn’t any words for because the thinking is just becoming an echo in the background, and we have now become an acceptance that we have gone exactly where we needed to. And begun to ‘feel’ everything with a whole new way of being.
Great post kind lady, an opening, to check that place inside 🤗❤️🙏

So, that’s a beautiful way of describing how to overcome limiting thoughts. I agree, over time we appear to sink deeper into ourselves due to everything we experience, observe, and combine in mind and heart. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and heartfelt experiences, Mark💖

Oh my goodness, Erika. Your post goes hand-in-hand with the Tarot card I pulled for this week. Our mind is a wonderfully brilliant computer. It can do so many things. But we are in charge of this computer, not the other way around. We program it, utilize it and honor it. But we are in charge. I love synchronicity. You will see what I mean if you visit today’s post. What an amazing life we have!!

Erika, well said. Plus, you accented it with nice quotes. An open, accepting mind can make a huge difference in any outcome. If you heard good things about a blind date, it will likely turn out better than if you heard the opposite. The reference to “heart/ brain coherence” makes sense to me. Remember me citing the reference in the movie “I Am?” One of the experts noted the heart’s electric current can be felt by another several meters away. So, if a man (or woman) sees a woman being coquettish toward him (or her), his (or her) brain will react and his (or her) heart will beat faster. That may inspire action, heart/brain coherence in actual practice. Keith

Yes, indeed, connections can be made that, while not visible, are nonetheless clearly felt. I remember the movie “I Am” and yes, it explains that “phenomenon” very well. I also recall a lecture with Gregg Braden who told us the story of a woman who had nightmares every night after she got a new heart transplanted. She was chased by a man and killed every time. It turned out that the woman she got the heart from was murdered. She was able to describe the killer and they caught him. So, the heart has brain/memory cells and connects with the brain. That’s why it is important to have both work into the same direction or we feel innter tensions.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Keith! You see, they were inspiring!

That is interesting on the transplant nightmare. Keith

It started after the heart was implanted and only stopped, when the murderer was caught. At least that was the story.

A couple of thoughts immediately come to mind while reading this Post.
“thoughts rarely tell the truth” – perhaps a basis for another Post but my immediate reaction that statement was to ponder the question “What is the truth?” Depending on how much thought we apply to the question, the answer becomes progressively more complicated. There are a few examples which I would defend as being the truth but, for so many more (the vast majority?), the “truth” becomes very subjective.
As for the meditative comments? I had an interesting experience many years ago which involved me isolating myself for a whole day (8 hours) in an environment where I could be at one with nature. I chose a ski slope in a large conservation area in July! It took (from memory) around 4-5 hours for my brain to stop thinking about family, friends, work, world news. I was distracted by aircraft and by the sounds of trains in the distance however, eventually my brain slipped into a totally relaxed mode and I was separated from my daily world. My thoughts were drifting around me and my environment, and got progressively deeper. I cannot recall the details of those final few hours, but it was an overwhelming feeling of “oneness”.
I guess my typical day would be spent on personal issues, work challenges etc. etc., and to experience being totally removed from those thought patterns was quite amazing. I cannot honestly say that I had any life-changing revelations ……. But I understood me a lot better. I appreciated me a lot more and, I would suggest, I loved me so much more as a result.
For any reader who has not tried this …… please do. We are a very busy species and our minds are generally working hard when we are not asleep (and even then at times!). Just imagine spending time with yourself after having totally closed the proverbial door on those daily thoughts. Do you know who you really are? Perhaps you will discover something new about yourself!
🙂

No, thoughts, don’t tell the truth in my opinion. They can be chosen freely and come from a subjective mind. It may be a pesonal truth but never a general. And that’s ok, because that is part of our journey.
Yes, I think oneness is the best word to describe that state of being. It is amazing. We see everything, not excluding anything, but it is only perceived. Nothing burdens at that moment since everything may be as it is. In those moments we recognize this all as part of our lives but not as part of ourselves anymore – and that makes the big difference. And what you took from it is a new self-awareness.
Thank you very much for adding your experience. I can only second your suggestion. It is like getting in touch with something far greater than our daily world. That touch leaves something we won’t forget. I recommend it a lot for people who are exposed to a lot of stress. It can work wonders on their mental situation and their view on thier life’s situations. Again, thank you, Colin!

“I am not saying one should ignore the mind. But it should pull in the same direction as the voice of the heart and organize the earthly path, while the soul points out the plan.”
This is so deep Erika. Just today, I thought to myself, what if the very thing my mind is resisting, is exactly what my soul and heart wants? It got me thinking, as to why we are so distracted to the extent of feeling like we are alienated inside? “It’s the cage that you fear that holds the treasure you desire” thanks for this piece and am gonna have to save it, Erika, it takes more to be this tapped in. Much love..

You said something very profound in your comment, Sanjo: “what if the very thing my mind is resisting, is exactly what my soul and heart wants”. That is the crucial point. What we fear is what should turn the mind to. Because that is what limits us. I noticed that fear kind of guided me from one breakthrough moment to the next. By breakting through fear, I earned back what I actually always had. What we don’t fear does not teach us (that much). It is what fear that we are meant to overcome – otherwise we wouldn’t be afraid of it.
Often the quesiton is “why do I fear this or that”? And after thinking about it, I came to the conclusino: Nothing! Whatever was in the past is not here now. It is just a reflex of my thoughts coming from old rooted thought pattern. They were not true then and are not now.
Thank you, Sanjo, and much love back!
