There is so much chaos in this world right now and I thought this short post from four years ago fits well.
We are constantly exposed to external influences. These influences determine how we influence ourselves. Because in the end, the influence of thoughts and deeds is only by yourself. Being influenced AND influencing happens unconsciously until you understand that your own thoughts do not just happen but can be controlled.
I am free to choose my own thoughts at any time. Thoughts that influence me positively and thereby strengthen me, thoughts that lift me out of the energy of the problem to the energy level of the solution. That insight also strengthens because it makes us independent. No one has to make their inner happiness dependent on any external circumstances. Happiness can never be found with this. But if we choose happiness despite all adversities, then we will never be without it.
Happiness is part of the being that we are. With an attitude that corresponds to the nature of this being, we nourish it and promote its vitality. Physically and emotionally, we are thus able to overcome difficulties better or not to make many things a problem in the first place. We become observers, go with the flow, and accept what is, but know we can influence what is becoming. Even moments of sadness don’t mean that we have lost our happiness. Happiness is an inner concept that accepts sad emotions. It will be the strong root that keeps us standing upright and withstand any storm and earthquake.
Eventually, no one has the power to tell you what to think or feel – unless you accept. Happiness is an inside job. Just let your smile work. In the best case, it contributes to the improvement of the world. While in the worst case, it secures your own happiness.
Be aware that you are an influencer.
And the person you are influencing the most… is you!

Erika, this is such a timely and wise post! YES to all of it! Your wisdom and words always hit the heart and soul. Happiness is an inside job! I love that Erika, I love the quote by Marcus Aurelius (a friend and I just had our stoicism conversation yesterday and this quote was a topic for us). I’ve missed you in my absence, dear friend. Much love and light! I appreciate you more than you know! 💓💛🤍❣️

Yes, basically, regardless of situation or circumstances, happiness is an inner decision and no one can do anyhting about it when we choose happiness 😊Of course, it is a process to get there but in the end, it is only a decision for our own favor 💖
💖 Karla, your words never fail to touch me. I hope you are doing good, dear friend 💖

We do indeed project exactly where we are at Erika. And as we heal from those many things we hold, that smile gets brighter and brighter. And as you have said, we just have to do us, all else is a guide to that love within us. Great post kind lady, may we dare to smile inside, no matter the pathway 🤗❤️🙏

Erika, I love this line near the end.
“Eventually, no one has the power to tell you what to think or feel – unless you accept. Happiness is an inside job.”
A friend and high school counselor would tell her kids, you are the boss of you. Don’t let others tell you how to feel. Don’t cede your power to them. If you choose not to take offense, then you are not the offended.
The converse works as well about happiness.
As for that smile, it can be infectious. Treat others like you want to be treated and they may choose to echo your smile. Look for ways to connect the dots with people. They will pay dividends to you both.

That’s a wonderful advice she gave the kids. Such a solid foundation in themselves they can build up. most of all at that age. I agree, it is the same principle like with happiness – simply an inside job. A smile is the most hearfelt and at the same time independet way to connect with others to make them fell the light in themselves again. We should make it a mission ourselves to make at least two or three people smile every day… better more. Thank you for this inspiring comment, Keith.

Nice post to revisit. We are definitely influencers externally and internally. The internal matters most because it determines what we project externally. Have an inspiring and uplifting week, Erika 🌞

Exactly! It is so important how we influence or let influence ourselves. Let’s be aware of it and affect others positively too who let the influence unconsciously happen. Thank you very much for your inspiring words and for the lovely wishes 😊wishing you the same 😊

We need to remember that we can change something in ourselves for the better by the choice of our thoughts. And we can inspire others to do the same. Circumstances may not vanish by that but may appear smaller and better to handle.
