Absolutely LOVE this quote!
I remember I wasn’t better than anybody else. For years I stayed with a low income project because it was “safe” money. I could depend on it every month, but it wasn’t until I was pushed beyond my limits one month, and my normal salary could pay my debts, that I stepped up and pushed strong in my business.
My business is my passion, but I kept it on the backburner to play it “safe”…
What I learned is that project wasn’t safe at all because I had outgrown that small income and literally needed more.
I’m so grateful today for that needed “push” I had that month, that made me get on my feet and promote my business with all I had. I might not have never went full-time without that push, and I know I wouldn’t have become a six figure earner.

Hi, Justin, your experience is such great example of how the universe makes one see that it is time to move forward. We need those pushes or we would remain where we are forever. But that is not what life is about. Life is about development and (re-)discoveries, joy, and new adventures to keep it vivid. I am so happ to hear that you stood up and are going for it. It is a challenge and we enter unkown fields but that is how we evolve and feel alive. I wish you all the best and joy in the adventure of life 💖

There is also the “convincing” mind game that tells you so making it impossible to make hard changes to break the cycle.

I understand what you mean. They flee into that excuse and try to find expalantions why they cannot change or why things are as they are.

Yes, and I’ve noticed when I tell her I understand (and give her my experience), hers is 10 times worse. 😜

Oh, well, a tough nut! She wants to get confirmed how hard her life is and how beaten she is from it – although it has always been up to her.

A solid and concrete truth.

I know people who don’t move an inch although having the life in sight they dreamed of. They think the circumstances need to change first. But every change requires efforts and the courage to take risks.

Yes. You live with circumstances and die with circumstances, what happens in between is up to you.

And the responsibility for missed chances is by the individual and not others. Perfectly put! May I quote you?

Exactly. Of course you can!

Erika, so true too often. What is the old saying about “the devil you know.” This gets more troubling when the “devil” is an abuser and the abused is too scared to leave. Keith

Oh, yes, such an attitude can have very difficult variations. The one you mentioned is definitely amongst the worst.

I have a friend who keeps making the same choices and the results are her going round and round in circles. How do you help someone see that, Erika? 🤔

I am asking myself the same things watching a person I know. Maybe your friend does not want to see it because she is too scared leaving the known, although she might be unhappy with the repeating result. I am sure you tried showing her several times and in multiple ways. You cannot do more. In the end, she needs to find out herself. Maybe, the pain level is not high enough yet.

Gail, Erika, this reminds me of women who like bad boys and are surprised when they screw them over. And, then they find another bad boy. The same can be said for men and their dubious choices in women. Keith

I know women (and men) who gravitate toward partners who treat them poorly.

Yes, Keith, that goes along with that attitude. I have a person in my family who always wanted a relationship in which the other one had to make her happy. Every relationship broke apart since “the other one” got too much under pressure and the person got disappointed. But that person did not (want to) see it and searched for the next happy-maker.

It’s tragic because I met her in NYC in 2019. She moved to Florida in 2023; now back to NYC (which is in much worse shape than ever) and sees that she cannot live there, so wants to move back to Florida. She confuses her decision by visiting beautiful tourist areas on the east coast while knowing the salary will not match NYC. As soon as she makes a decision, she then turns negative about every choice. It makes me very sad.

Oh, that sounds bad and sad. She stands in her own way. Maybe she even hopes that someone tells her what to but that is probably not what whe wants to hear. I bet you already told her that first she needs to know what she wants and then she will find a way to make it happen… not the other way around.

We try to put up with it for so long. Often, because we believe we have to, until we realize that we don’t. From that moment on, a lot changes.
