How High is My Level of Awareness?

Haven’t you had such moments, too when you realized something profound? When you solved an inner misunderstanding and freed yourself, realizing it was you who developed that misunderstanding and kept it alive? And didn’t you think: “Oh, my God, now I understand! Now, I am free of this burden for good. I can finally live my life and move on without this restriction.” We think, we finally got it – until we arrive at the next obstacle.

For a moment, a day, or maybe some weeks, we feel like nothing can stop us, and it actually is that way. We are filled with life and new energy and are motivated to the max. We think we can conquer the world and speed our development forward, believing we know everything. But right when this thought kicks in, the vessel becomes slower because we set limits to our development. Also, we may start looking down on others because we are so much smarter, having this life-changing insight. But it is a personal insight. Others may have never needed to discover what I discovered, and vice versa. Believing we know the secret makes us blind for more to discover… and the whole process starts again.

We never know how aware we already are. Of course, we develop and gain awareness whether we notice it or not, but since we can only judge our knowledge from our previous experience, we don’t know how much room to the top is left. Comparing us with others doesn’t help at all because awareness happens on so many different levels, and as I said, we all have different lessons to learn. While one may be in control of his life and another one struggles with addictions and financial problems, it does not say anything about the level of awareness of both, only that they are on different paths. The one with the more difficult path can be much higher in their consciousness as they are challenged to take that more difficult path – you never know!

I think none of us has complete awareness, and I don’t believe one is more aware than the other. We only have different approaches. I dare say that the majority who are incarnated now will not reach the highest level in this lifespan. It doesn’t even help to have a tool to measure the level of awareness. If we could, we, as humans, would only fall into another competition contest that again is a tool to learn that we need to distance ourselves from competition to grow our awareness. Falling into a competition may even be a sign that the lesson has not been learned yet or simply needs a follow-up lesson. I believe that the more awareness you gain, the less you feel the need to prove anything to anyone, not even to yourself, while the feeling of connection with everything and everyone grows. The difference is that the reason for that connection is love, not the ego.

So, we never know where we stand in our personal development. One thing is for sure: the journey goes on, and that makes this life so interesting. We can discover so many new aspects of this life and uncover so many misunderstandings that kept us from those discoveries. With every discovery and the empowering feeling that goes along, we can encourage others to keep their minds open and their curiosity high.

Thank you so much. I am not always sure whether I find the right words that convey profoundly enough what I want to forward. So, I am very thankful they spoke to you, dear Carol Anne 💖

Only moving around in our own “four walls” doesn’t lead anywhere. We will stay in our four walls. Only being open for more and understanding that it is a continuous process makes us discover the wonders of life – of all life. Have a nice day too, Michael!

Our journey/evolution doesn’t end. We are in a constant state of development who’s to say when and if we will reach our zenith. Comparison is only detrimental to our growth, as you say each individual’s level of awareness is different. So, for each profound moment we open ourselves for the next one to arrive. Great post and thoughts, Erika 🌞

Right, who’s to say how far we are? And who are we to measure our own or others’ level. That is it: only if we take a profound moment for what it is – another step in our personal development – can we make that step sustainably. Thank you very much, Sylvester!

Excellent quotes there Erika, but the one that “hit” me was yours – “I believe that the more awareness you gain, the less you feel the need to prove anything to anyone, not even to yourself, while the feeling of connection with everything and everyone grows.”

I believe it is so important to that we each follow our own path, regardless of what other people are doing. We follow what is right for us, and not get caught up in desiring approval by others. It is quite a complex issue when one thinks about it but, “at the end of the day” we have to live with ourselves until our life’s end. We can go through life trying to live up to the expectations of others ………….. or we can establish, and follow, our expectations of ourselves.

One path will almost certainly lead to a life of many regrets, while the other path will lead to a life of fulfillment. When we reach our “senior years” (which is where I am!), do we want to look back with regrets at the opportunities missed, or do we want to look back with a satisfied smile and think …………”Yes, I served a purpose. I had a good life!”

A final thought – It’s never too late to change!

I see it the same way, Colin. After I learned to break out of that “fulfilling expectations” circle, that never gets you anywhere, I promised myself to never ever let something pass by because I am too afraid (for whatever reason). No one can do anything about it. It is my decisions and, as you said, I have to bear the consequences. But at least, those are consequences out of my decisions and not those I think I have to make to please others. I hit many walls until I learned that.

It is such a liberating yet uniting feeling when you see yourself as part of all that is by what you are and what you contribute to this world. And at the same time cut the chord of believing you need to follow a particular concept to be a worth-while member of this earthly community.

Thank you very much for your comment, Colin. I agree: It is never too late to change but always too early to give up the intention!

“People pleasing” is doomed to failure simply because one can never please everybody. For those who may applaud our efforts to get their approval, there will always be those who disapprove.

Yes, I couldn’t agree more. Regardless what we do, there will always be both. So, let’s do what we want to do! But as a child, it is kind of a survival technique… and that shapes you into your adulthood. It is quite an achievement to drop that layer again.

A beautifully insightful post, Erika. I love the quote from Eckart Tolle. This whole existence is such an amazing process with so much work going on behind the scenes we never see. We are all here for a reason and that is to expand our consciousness. What an incredible journey – the ups, the downs and the in-betweens! Thank you for sharing and I wish you a wonderful week ahead! Journey on!

Yes, it is such an exciting adventure. Never boring if you decide to join in. Although I bet that not only I but others too would skip some of the surprises we get. However, the whole package makes our life OUR life and us a uniquely evolved being as part of an all-encompassing concept. Thank you, Jan! You have a wonderful week too 💖

Beautifully written Erika, you wrapped it all in a nutshell. Many the path, many the enlightenment. Even some of the simplest things are so profound. My greatest thing was to understand my fear…but that was just one side of the coin. It is all now just viewed from a different perspective. But as you did say, each and every moment, encounter, journey, is ever polishing that beauty inside us. Never anything not worthy, nor lost on our path. Thank you for a very profound post kind lady, it touches that truth inside me well 🤗🥰❤️🙏

I can still say, that my greatest insight was also understanding my fear. Or actually: seeing my fear as a construct of my thoughts but not as a existing truth. It was THE big leap to another world in and out of myself. But yes, even the simplest things can have such big impacts on our awareness when they are the last missing piece to a subject.
I love this ongoing process and I am in peace with it. Knowing that we are in constant development doesn’t make me frustrating (like others experience it) but curious of the many things I can still discover on my journey.

I am happy the post spoke to you that deep, Mark. And thank you for your always so profound comment 💖

I love when you just said ‘I am at peace with it’, it shows the beauty within it, going beyond our day to day journey and understanding that part ‘inside’ us is the viewer. Almost like there is ‘two’ of us down here. The experience’er and that understanding within…but…I suppose their is 🤗🥰🤣❤️🙏

That is what Eckhart Tolle said: “When I think that I cannot live with myself anymore, then there must be two: I and myself!” That is one of the important things to recognize on our way to awareness I think. We are not what we do, what we say, or what we think. We are not even the thinker. And he explained it with an example: Step back and watch yourself doing what you do. Then after a while step back again and watch the one who watches you. Become the observer. That helps you to stop identifying with wha you do or think and it eliminates any judging. It is such an interesting thing to practice.

It is a very profound thing Erika. After I went through my fear, it does make you step back, even a little scarily at first. But slowly you realize that those fears keep you ‘down here’ at the coalface to understand. But at that moment of understanding we step back more and more, like we are just visiting almost…but still here to see but from a whole new perspective. And to be taught so profoundly…and I didn’t even have to change schools 🤗🥰🤣❤️🙏

Yes, exactly, once we understood that priciple may not change our reflex but our way to deal with it… until our reflex slowly changes. I agree, many lessons will be sent and yes, we are lucky we can stay at the same school at least for this lifetime😂
