Don’t Fight Something – Overcome It!

I thought this would make a fitting sequel to last week’s post: Stop Excusing – Start Changing!

When something we don’t like happens, it is a natural reflex to show resistance. But in showing resistance, we give power to what we resist. If we are against something, we concentrate on what we are against. So, we feed something that we actually want to dissolve. How shall this work out? If I am afraid of something, I cannot get it out of the way by saying “I don’t want this, I don’t want this” because “this” is the subject that gets stuck deeper and deeper and becomes more persistent. My fear only grows because it seems to completely surround me. Resistance makes the problem bigger.

If we are demonstrating against war, we are concentrating on war. The LGBTQ community has set such great examples through their demonstrations for equality and their rights. We can observe that engaging in a fight against someone only leads to aggression and revenge, creating a vicious circle. The fight will never end, unless we can envision the desired outcome and strive toward it. Otherwise, we will remain stuck at the current impasse.

Change “I don’t want…” to “I want…”. It may require a new set of thought patterns, but it is achievable. We must not be against climate change, air pollution, littering, and injustice. We need to be in favor of a healthy environment, clear air, clean landscapes, and respect. Try this experiment: Think of climate change – what images come to mind? Now think of a healthy environment – what images come to mind now? The second type of thought will lead you to a positive attitude toward what you truly desire. This will help you move away from complaining and instead focus on finding solutions. By recognizing what can be done, no matter how small, you will be motivated to keep it going with a strong and healthy fire burning in you. This approach encourages constructive thinking, rather than fixating on the chaos we aim to overcome.

Look for the positive opposite of what you don’t want in your life or yourself, and fill every fiber of your being with it. Feed that thought with all you are. If I am not happy with my current job, it is useless to complain about everything I cannot stand about it. I have to look at all the positive aspects first. And then see if they pay off. Because nothing is only roses. However, if it still burdens me, I must focus on what I want in this job. Maybe it is possible to change my occupation or function in that company. Maybe I am unhappy with my profession in general. Perhaps I need to look out for a different employer, or I am going for a new education.

The purpose of my blog is to inspire and shine a light on the beauty and power of the wonderful being inside your body. You came into this world to share what only you can give. Remember who you really are, conquer the world the way you always wanted to, and become the blessing to us all that you were meant to be.

Glad you think so, Michael. What we set our minds to will become our reality. And it does not matter whether we want it or not. So we rather set our mind to things we want. Thank you and have a good rest of your week too!

Oh, my. If only those still complaining and refusing to use the Block editor would read this post, Erika. Instead, they carry on with an editor that is full of bugs and still complain that it does not work properly or do what it used to do 5 years ago. They blame everybody but themselves. If they spent that time watching and learning (instead of complaining and resisting), it would not be long before they wondered what all the fuss was about.
Another great read.

Again, you found a perfect comparison that everyone here understands. I agree, complaining never solved problems, especially not when it comes to the blog editor. Thank you, Hugh 😄

My friend gave me a second serving for focusing on how I was feeling. She said…go outside with a nice drink and sit in the sun and enjoy a bit of fresh air and vitamin D from the sun. I even had a visit from my magpies to have a song with me. Makes a big difference kind lady. Great post, thank you for your positivity too 😀❤️🙏

Feeding the unwanted/negative only allows it to grow bigger. We need to feed the wanted/positive more so we can maintain that healthy state mentally and spiritually. Have a wonderful week, Erika 🌞

That’s the point! There is nothing more to say. Often we fall into that old pattern but recognizing it already helps to get focused again on what actually matters. When even we get a bloody nose before we notice.

Another great perspective Erika. It is unfortunate that schools do not promote this approach.

“Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude” (by W. Clement Stone) is a book that I was introduced to approx 50 years ago (in a job training program), and it still resonates with me today. It’s focus is on searching for the positives in any given situation (and they are always there), and then taking that path.

I agree. I think society, in general, is not very supportive regarding looking out for the positive. You only need to watch the news. What sells is tragedies, catastrophes, and war. But there are many stories behind or aside from that which would strengthen our positive outlook. It is a simple reprogramming. If we can reflexively see the bad, we can see the good. So, thank you for mentioning that book. That’s what should be taught and many negative news would not even exist. Thanks a lot for your comment, Colin!

I am very happy this came so timely for you, Annette. We follow that negative direction without probably noticing instead of looking out for the positive contrary to strengthen instead of weaken ourselves and the goal💖
