We should always remain open for growth so we can continue to experience life new. I like this quote a lot 😊

I see it the same way. Everything that happens has that potential of growth in it.

Sometimes growth is exciting and fun and sometimes it’s hard, but it’s always wonderful in the end!

So true, Jan! Growth comes through so many ways and always adjusted to the being it concerns. The more aware we are of it the better we handle it and the more likely we can recognize the irony in many lessons.

Erika, well said. Geriatric specialists note those who remain curious tend to live longer healthier lives. Anyone who thinks they know it all are sadly mistakened and way off the mark (except for the US president, whose gut knows everything, more than specialists). Keith

Oh, right, yes! There are always those exceptions that confirms the rule…

Erika, I read about a woman in Charlotte who is turning either 115 or 116 tomorrow, her birth date is not known as a census date contradicts another date. Either way, she is either the 3rd oldest or 7th oldest person. She was never hospitalized until she was 108. She has over 100 great grandchildren and over fifty great-great grandchildren. She has lived twice as long as her husband who died at 57.
The only things that she shared about longevity – a half of banana is included with breakfast and she is a devout woman who attended church regularly until COVID-19. Now a minister comes to her house. Having so many family members has to help keep her curiosity alive, but she likely has a good genes. I think it helps that two of he daughters live with her.

My gosh, so that is really amazing. What a story! I am convinced that our zest for life, the love for live, and the curiosity about it is a big (if not the biggest) indicator to raise the chance to live a long AND healthy life! It actually confirms that body, mind, and soul are one. And as long as they are in a positive alignment life’s energy can flow freely through every cell!

Erika, you reminded of a Greek island that has a storied history of longevity. If I recall, there were two factors – the parents living with the caretaking children’s family and the Mediterranean diet filled with fruits, nuts and olives. The woman in Charlotte lived with two of her daughters, so that has to help. Keith

I have to check on that Greek island. That sounds intersting. Over here the farmers many decades ago used to live in big family communities. All generations in one house. The elder took care of the little ones. Once they got too old, they were taken care of. But they all had their purposes and, as you mentioned, were kept curious by the younger generations. They did get very old too.

Erika, it keeps people living with purpose. A geriatric doctor noted there two major thresholds that precipitate a decline in the health of the aged – when they can no longer drive and when they can no longer self-ambulate. Those who have purpose will likely put off those thresholds.as they care for others and complete tasks, but they will have loved ones around to help them. Keith

I can relate to those two thresholds. That is why we always need to keep our look at the horizon – regardless of the age. There is always something to fill the hole of something that fell apart. And if it is only the acceptance to enjoy the life that I am given.

Exactly, Amy! We are part of nature and are living in the same circles… physically as mentally!

Very good Erika. It is interesting that “being alive” and “living” can mean very different things. I know quite a few people who are technically “alive”, but their lives are such that I question whether they are “living”. Great message here. 🙂

Yes, a big difference indeed. You could also say, they just exist. Thank you, Colin!
