These days many of us are called upon to stay at home as a matter of principle. Some stay together in groups (like family) while some are alone. Both situations can become a challenge over time or even overwhelming when they can no longer “escape”; either from the people they live with or worse – from themselves. The second one is what I want to talk about and what is a general problem. In our routine days, it may be easier to get distracted from the fact that they are not able to deal with themselves. But these days there truly is no escape. Instead of throwing themselves into work or party life, they are now forced to deal with themselves. It can be very hard… but also wonderfully healing. To me, it feels like a high-speed rehabilitation – wanted or not.
Many people may work through a lot inside themselves during the coming days and weeks. Above all, they may recognize themselves and their own value anew because they may not have taken the time for that for a long while. Instead of identifying with what they do or what they have, they will begin to identify with who they are again. What a wonderful process! A higher perspective can be reached. Many new ideas and abilities will emerge. People will see themselves as part of the whole again and they will understand their role much better. Many will become aware again of the value of specific persons in their lives, and maybe they will more likely be able to make peace with them and with the past. The ego may fall and the soul will surface.
This morning I listened to a part of an interview with two futurologists (Matthias and Tristan Horx). They suggested something that I often do in times of crisis. They said you should beam yourself half a year into the future (maybe picture yourself in your favorite café) and then look back and see how the crisis has changed you. That alone gives the courage to see the opportunity in the crisis. It lets you look beyond the crisis and confirms that there is not only life after the crisis but an improved life AND it can already provide a view of what you will value differently and see with different eyes. With that “outlook,” the process of renewal is driven forward.
This time gives us the chance to recognize our potential and to use it in a completely new way. Love the person you’re with, and you will rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
