Erika, regardless of the impetus, we are the creator of our thoughts. It could be a milestone song, a scent of a remembered perfume, lotion or favorite food, a favorite meal or restaurant, or watching a movie or TV show. Pot roast reminds me of my mother and Sunday dinner, eg. But, it is my thought, my memory. Keith

Oh, yes, absolutely, Keith. Memories are connected with so much in our daily lives. Especially scents are closely connected with memories. That’s why it is suggested to have a particular scent nearby while learning for exams and again, smell that scent during an exam.

They are? That is an amazing fact. I knew that that is a very strong connection but not on that level. Thank you for letting me know.

Yes, we are! The thoughts that pop up reflexively are out of control indeed. It is up to us to get control over them again. Our mind stores all our experiences (everything we heard, saw, felt) and creates its own truth from it. It stores each data in its own folders. Whatever happens in our lives the mind checks the folders and opens reflexively one that comes close to what we experience currently and sends a matching thought. So, it only speaks from a past we declared as a truth from our state of awareness. But that awareness changes and often we are confused when our thoughts don’t match that change accordingly.

What I think, I feel. What I feel, I radiate. What I radiate, I atract. What I atract, I see, and from there I create my experience. That experience gets stored again in my inner folders and creates thoughts based on what I believe is true. A thought that we think often becomes a pattern, and that pattern applied often becomes a belief. So, if we want to change our emotions and feelings we need to reprogam the system.

In the early process of breaking though my inner barriers I understood that my thoughts are the key. As long as I think destructive thoughts, I won’t find my way out of that maze. I started observing my thoughts, all of those thoughts that just reflexivley pop up. After about a week, I began to pick some specific ones and started to change them from destructive into constructive thoughts. I stuck only with one or two specific thoughts and kept exchanging them until (only a couple of weeks later) I noticed them becoming a new reflex. For example, when you look out of the window and it’s raining, instead of giving in to a reflex like “what a sh** weather”, you can change your thoughts to “regardless of the weather, I am feeling good. I am glad for nature to get hydrated, blossom, and bloom.” Keep repeating it every time when negative thoughts about rain come up. It won’t take two weeks and you noitce a change in your reflexive thoughts. The secret is to find reasons why something can be good. And there are always reasons.

It is an exciting new adventure to see that we are able to change our thoughts by choice. It needs practice, of course. Therefore, starting with small things makes us realize that we can make it. In the end, it doesen’t matter what thoughts we would like to change, we can change them all. It doesn’t make a difference anymore what kind of thoughts.

Sorry, that got a bit long, but it is important to understand that our thoughts create our experiences. When we change our thoughts, we change our experiences. This subject is the key to open our prison doors. A good book that helped me in the process is “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. Maybe you want to check it out.

I like your perspective Erika. That thought whether directly or indirectly has a source. And that source is us. So a reflex thought pattern similates a stored pattern that’s almost identical to our primary exposure. So we knowingly or unknowingly agree to that patterning.

Now I agree Erika, though environment has a powerful way of shaping us, but we aren’t victims of it.

I’m gonna use your approach Erika. Thanks for sharing. I really like your honesty my friend. Hugs miles away.

That is so perfectly summed up, Sanjo! I hope many read your reply. That’s the point. Whether consciously of unconsciouly: What we think is our choice, no matter why, and the consequences are always ours to take.

That’s why we are constantly creating through the power of our thoughts – whether consciously or unconsciously. And here, a conscious observation and change of thoughts is the origin of a changed life. I wrote a lot about it in my book but I can recommend Wayne Dyer’s book here: “Change your thoughts – change your life”. I can recommend all of his books. “Your Sacred Self” was a crucial part that led me to my breakthrough.

I wish you an exciting time, exploring and discovering the power of your thoughts, Sanjo💖

That’s the point of the quote. That’s why we need to be aware of that fact that the majority of our thoughts happen by habit. Since we are free to think what we want, we need to practice to change a destructive habit of thinking.
