Trying to please others only leaves you empty inside. You have to make sure you’re good within.

First, make sure you are ok, or you might not be the help they need!

Happy New Year, Erika!
When our focus is external, we ignore the heart and soul. In the past, I was a people pleaser. It hurt me, and in some ways, it hurt others because they were not growing. Now, I am guided by an inner compass rather than an outer need.
Thanks for sharing
Blessings

Thank you, Lisa, and a happy and healthy New Year to you, too!
Same over here! We think that is our destiny until we grow too much and break this belief. What a liberation. Because when we can say No, our Yes gets a different quality too!

Erika, one of the challenges for all us is we need to learn to say “no.” When our plate is full and we don’t have time for ourselves and our family, saying yes to one more request can be debilitating. There is a truism that work finds busy people. Saying no is a much needed art. Keith

I couldn’t agree more. It is one of the most important yet most difficult things to (re)learn. I remember when I realized that I am entitled to say no without any explanations, it was one of the most liberating experiences that changed my life dramatically! Thanks for adding this, Keith!

Erika, many thanks. I am glad you mentioned the liberating nature. At work or in volunteering, if you overcommit, you run the risk of letting people down. Keith

Guilty. I’ve lived my life being a “people pleaser”. Now I can make myself feel happy without feeling selfish. 🍃🌸

It is such a new found freedom to break out of that habit and leave all of its chains behind 💖

Yes. I still seem to react to those trigger words, “I need you to……” 😜

We will eventually reach inside Erika, it just needs a little encouragement first 🤗❤️🙏

Right, a little encouragement and awareness that we may care about ourselves. It is crazy that it can take us so long until we realize it💖
