looking back, everytime I’ve taken a big step forward it’s always been as a result of a fall. ❤️

Right! Nothing is a real failure, those are only different steps to find out, how something works! As you said, the fall makes insights possible which “not trying” never does!

Everything teaches and leads us. Sometimes we need to fail – not because we should not reach that specific goal but to take a short detour to meet a person for example.

Exactly, Beth! A beginning or a step on the road to the goal!

No failures or setbacks, only experience gained and reasons to move forward.

Right, we don’t make failures but experiences!

Wow, how true is this! The goal I set for yesterday (Monday) did not pan out as planned, however, a strategy session or two later, I keep moving forward!

Perfect, that is all about it. Maybe sometimes we only need to find out what does NOT work. After that insight, we might see a different road or a clearer path.

Erika, terrific mantra! Just a few true examples; Hewlett-Packard failed at its first business launch, highly successful college basketball coaches Dean Smith at UNC and Coach K at Duke were very close to being fired after a few initial unsuccessful years, The Supremes were initially called the “no hit Supremes” because they had trouble making a hit record until they took off with huge success, et al. Finally, UCLA basketball coach John Wooden once said he did not mind his team that making the most mistakes as he felt his more talented team was forcing the action. His teams won ten NCAA championships in twelve years. Keith

I love your sports examples, Keith. That reminds me of the Buffalo Bills (our favorite team). In the first two quaters you may think they forgot how to play or don’t want to win at all. Then the second half starts and they run over the opposing team like bulldozers. Leading to me almost having heart attacks when the victory is decided in the last 30 seconds 😂
But I also love Edison’s quote: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Great quote. I felt sorry for the Bills. They had a chance to win a Super Bowl against the New York Giants, but an offside penalty pushed a field goal try back 5 yards and the kick narrowly missed letting the Giants win.

Sounds totally like the Bills. Let’s see, how far they will get this season… fingers crossed!

Exactly, Michael, and we need to remind ourselves during times when we don’t succeed the way we hoped for. Thank you so much and for your continued friendship here on WordPress, I appreciate it very much. Have a lovely and hopefully relaxed Christmas and rest of the year. Take care 💖

A pastor once asked me on my birthday, “What have you learned in the past year?” I remind myself of the question often. 🤔

That’s such a good question and we should ask it at the end of every day. We would see our own development with so much more awareness instead of disappointment. Thanks for that, Gail 💖
