The Intention May Be Good, But …

Noble ideas (like world peace, equality, respect, saving the planet) can be corrupted by the growing opinion they are the only truth or solution.

For example, one may believe that the world needs more respect. That person can become so fixated on their idea that they try to convince everyone around them of their truth. That can rise to the level of fanaticism. Once they are at that point, they don’t accept any other point of view or anything that does not go along with their conviction. So, instead of bringing more respect into the world, they even lose respect from anyone who doesn’t share their opinion.

The same thing happens with peace in this world. If we become fanatic, we don’t tolerate any opinion that differs from ours. I think I don’t even need to mention that what we achieve that way is anything but peace.

As long as I believe that my opinion and my belief are the only correct opinion and belief, I don’t only work against my virtues but arrogate to deprive others of their free will. I only see my perspective, ignoring that they have their own conviction as I do. That way, the noblest of ideas becomes another issue if we don’t respect that people are allowed to believe what they choose to believe. Maybe this is even the biggest issue that keeps us from reaching higher collective goals, but we dig ourselves deeper into the mud we throw at others.

I don’t say: Only care about your own business. Oh, no, not at all! (OK, some things are none of our business at all. They only disturb us because of our own inner conflict.) But everyone has a point of view due to their history. And others are the same convinced about their perception and truth as I may be. So, only if we detach from the idea of having the only solution for something we set the table, we all need to sit around and develop a bigger picture of the issue and solution. We need to talk to each other and WANT to understand where the other one comes from.

The purpose of my blog is to inspire and shine a light on the beauty and power of the wonderful being inside your body. You came into this world to share what only you can give. Remember who you really are, conquer the world the way you always wanted to, and become the blessing to all of us that you were meant to be.

And in answer to your post Erika (sorry, I thought I had hit the reply to Gail’s last comment below for my other comment 🤣), violence seems to be the answer to everything…simply because it is the last resort of those that feel they are not being heard, ego i.e. my stick is bigger than your stick, greed, or even because they feel they are right. But who is right. They all believe in God and God is love…but where is that love? Am I being too simplistic? How can it be that such a powerful belief detaches itself from what their belief is. So opposite to what they say they are in their actions. I dare any one of those leaders around the world to stand and say out loud to the world ‘I am that love I believe in’…and then press their button. Shame on the lot of them. But I do know this…this world does need to have opposites so that they can see what they want versus what they don’t want. But if you keep following what you don’t want (violence), then who is the fool, who is living a lie, who has lost their belief in others, let alone themselves.
Sorry Erika, I must be breathing some of that air from over there, it’s the eclipses or I need a coffee by the beach…or am I too making excuses 😳 😵 🤔 ☹️
Great post kind lady, may some sense…or better still…some love enter it all 😀❤️🙏

Yes, yes, yes, you are so right, it is a complete paradox. How can someone preach to be open minded while at the same time their mind is limited to their belief? So the actual intention may not even be noble but egoistic. I believe this and that is good for this world or for any or particular people and that is the law.
Great thoughts, Mark! Thanks a lot for sharing!

They believe in their unfaith Gail, it too is a belief…until it isn’t. We all have our own faith, be it religious, in things, in just us or all of them…but…this world will ever change it until we can see beyond it and realize that in the end we have all just been looking for that love and happiness. As Erika said, we project that ideal we are looking for, and even those dragons and princes and princesses are those dreams of that ideal, hopes for what we are looking for. Even the occasional pot of gold. And Everything we experience will adjust that direction until we find that place we are looking for that has meaning, and we can finally ‘let go’ of it all in what we have found…that final acceptance of that love and happiness within us. We may not realize it at first but in the end we will see it is that faith in us that has always kept us going. It will wobble, some days even seem to disappear. But inside we are creating something through those many conditions we place on ourselves, so that in going through them we will finally understand the truth that is us, see what we really are inside and let go what isn’t, and become that faith that unconditional love is. Oops, sorry Erika, it was Gail, she did it! 🤣❤️🙏

I don’t know if it’s different in Europe, but in America, it has become an epidemic of no tolerance for differing opinions. Everyone thinks they are right and everyone else is wrong and no one will budge. Division is rampant. I choose to be the observer, refusing to play in that narrow minded game. Great post!

I would say, it is a common problem and we have both sides everywhere. Just the “not tolerance” voices are much louder and sometimes are pushed through by tanks and bombs.
You mentioned an important detail: Be the observer! That means, you don’t identify with any opinion not even with your own which keeps you free from any need to convince anyone. At the same time, you listen and see from a distance without getting affected and understand that nothing is meant personally against you.
Thank you very much, Jan. I like your thoughts a lot!

Staying neutral while observing. many who look upon us, who detach within our own inner world. look to not be caring… Yet that couldn’t be further from the truth as you say..
We care deeply… But taking sides only divides. pointing fingers of blame again is division.
Which is why I detach… Within my creations, my meditations, and send Love out to ALL concerned good, bad and indifferent..

It isn’t easy for we are all of us conditioned to judge…
Another great thought provoking peace of writing Erika… Sending love and Peace to all who wish to absorb it..

I understand you so well. Sometimes I think of spending a few weeks far away in a hut without any internet. Just nature and I to restore my inner world solidly. I am glad, I have such an island at home and often I am able to detach since I am aware that it is of no use for anyone, the least for me.

As you said, we care, and we need to care but not in ways that limit others to our opinions.
I think that is the big lesson mankind needs to learn. Because that is the only way to make it through this all. Or we will learn by the consequences that we had not learned early enough.

Thank you, Sue, may we continue doing our best to get as close as possible to unconditionality. Much love to you, dear Sue💖

Ahh, a nice thought! Sometimes I don’t have even time for the internet when I am too busy with my own business… which is bliss too 🥰
Much love to you too, dear Sue 💖

Only by being open to other’s views/opinions can we get across our own. Our’s is not necessarily the right or correct one. No one listens to someone who believes they are in the right all the time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions and for being open to listen to other’s 🌞

We need to grant others their opinion. Only then they feel taken serious – as it works with ourselves. That is when we begin to listen to each other and maybe even consider other points of view.
My pleasure, Sylvester!

Well said Erika. I have always shaken my head in despair at the “We’re fighting for Peace” justification of a conflict. The fact that we, as a species, have been continually in conflict with each other since time immemorial would suggest that threats of violence are not conducive to a true and everlasting peace.

Perhaps if we diverted our military budget spending into an expanded education system which teaches/promotes unity and understanding? Perhaps if we taught some fundamentals of business, so that the population becomes more aware of the psychology behind advertising, and will therefore resist trends which in turn could reduce the “me vs you” competition? Perhaps we could be convinced that if we lowered our standard of living a little, we could help a very large part of the world increase there’s?

I find it quite disconcerting that, while I have been very fortunate not to experience an armed conflict during my life (born 1946), it is so sad that the world today is in such a mess. Have we really not learned anything? Were those peace marches in the 1960s a total waste of time? The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) served what purpose in retrospect?

There has to be some happy news just around the corner, but it is difficult to be convinced at this point in time.

I couldn’t agree more with your suggestions. Studies proved that the better the education the more thoughtful and respectful people are. I am convinced that many of those extremists would not become extremists if their parents were more supported regarding their own education and then the education of their kids. But as long as the power over others and a deeply rooted hatred is this important for those in the essential functions the system won’t be changed.

When Putin invaded Ukraine I thought the same. 30 years before we tore down the Berlin wall, national borders in Eastern Europe opened, and freedom and democracy were breaking through. Today I feel like we are more or less back at that point. How can that be after 3 decades of developing towards a more open world?

We are not only about to kill ourselves due to what we are doing to this planet, but we also start wars to make it all worse. Instead of working together on our own future, important governments are opening deeper gaps than ever.

May we do everything we can do in our small worlds for this planet and humanity. May the individual be a role model in mindfulness, respect, and acceptance.

Thank you for your words, Colin. As you said, if everyone lowered their standards just a bit, we would achieve a lot quickly for a better life for everyone!

Would you allow me to quote you with these words: “Perhaps we could be convinced that if we lowered our standard of living a little, we could help a very large part of the world increase there’s?”

I am glad you said that because, I was not sure, if you really meant “there’s”. But I would have asked in case you agreed to be quoted. So, thanks a lot 😊

It can, since we can trick ourselves so quickly. It is important to step back from time to time to check whether we are still on the road we originally started walking.

It is not easy at all. Yet, what we see today is the manifestation of imagination. Let’s imagine the world we want to live in and be surrounded by. Let’s feel the joy of finding ourselves in that world. We need this kind of loving energy so much these days 💖
