#MomentsOfJoy

Today, I would like to share the view from a place to which I look at daily from home. Last year, on a warm summer evening, we went up the “Staubern” and had a breathtaking view down to the valley and I could even spot my house. It is about 1,860 m above sea level. We went up there by a ropeway and enjoyed not only this gorgeous view but also a delicious cheese fondue. Enjoy the trip!

We are exactly on the ridge up here.
In the background on the left you can see the lake Constance which connects three countries: Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.

On the next picture you can see the river Rhine which is the natural border between Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

On this photo you can also see three countries coming together: Switzerland, Liechtenstein and on the left across the river lies Austria. This valleay is called the Rhine valley.

Time for dinner!

It was a beautiful evening!

I was inspired by Gary to share this trip. He loves Switzerland and the area around the Alps.

I haven’t enjoyed a cheese fondue in years, although I do recall enjoying a chocolate fondue a few years ago.

Spectacular views, Erika. The air must have been fresh and very healthy.

You need to try it again, Hugh! You are not that quickly fed up like with a chocolate fondue… lol.
Yes, the air wonderful up there and so spicy. It was a warm summer evening though and therefore it was nice and warm even on that altitude.

Oh, I definitely will, Erika, especially because we have a fondue set in the kitchen cupboard. I’m amazed it was warm enough at such high altitude. When I looked at your photos, ‘Julie Andrews’ came to mind.

Oh, yes, no jacket needed in July as long as the sun had not set yet.
Haha, I think wherever you are in the Alps that will come to your mind, Hugh. But can you imagine that only a handful of people in Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein or Germany have seen The Sound of Music?

Given the subject of the movie, I can probably understand why, Erika. It seems to get played on TV every bank holiday in the UK. And of course some of the music from the movie (and show) are classics.

Thank you my friend. That has lifted my heart. I can almost feel the beautifully fresh crisp air. Those are just the most stunning views. We never spent much time in the Rhine Valley. It was always on the next to do list. As was a visit to Lichtenstein. Until I correct that omission I will look at these wonderful photos and dream. x

I never saw that way since I grew up with such views. But you are right, Annette. I learned to appreciate this magical landscape only a few years ago. I am very thankful to live here😊

Oh These are such breath taking views Erika… so wonderful you have these fantastic views on your back door so to speak.. Many thanks for sharing them and the location of all three countries.. I have been to all of them at one time or another including Liechtenstein we passed through 🙂 We would have been going to the Rhine Valley on the 22nd June, but our holiday booking got cancelled due to everything…
Wonderful scenery Thank you for sharing your joyful moments 🙂 🙏

I love it Erika, we’ve been several times taking a day cruise on the Rhine too, which we also booked. Never mind I have lots of happy memories of visits to wonderful places in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, and lots of wine cellar visiting lol, hehe. I’m always grateful that we did lots of travel in my forties and fifties. And I’m quite content in our allotments growing veggies. 😃😘🤗🥬🥦🌽🥕🍅 😃💕🙏

Oh Ericka, that is so beautiful. A glorious view forever. I could most certainly live on any of those ridges, mind you I don’t think I would get any work done…but hey, I could suffer that easily 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋 😂 🤣

Oh, I know what you mean. I don’t know if I would really want to live there but it is a blessing to have the chance to be there in only 45 minutes (inclucing ropway) 😊😍
