We can take that a step further in forgiving ourselves as well. That action of self-love and acceptance is so powerful!

Well said, Jan. That is probably the biggest problem for many that forgiving oneself still stands in the way. Good point, thank you!

Erika, well said. I think I shared with you the advice of a friend who was a high school counselor before cancer took her. She told the kids “Don’t cede your power. You are not offended if you do not take offense.” She would add that too many folks just want to provoke a reaction. Keith

Wise words! That reminds me of the story of a teacher who was asked why he was not angry or felt offended when some people made fun of him. He said to the students: “When someone offers you a gift but you don’t take it, to whom does it belong?”

it takes a weight off of us – we do not forget, but we forgive

That’s what I think is very important. We should not try to forget (which is impossible), because on one hand it is more like suppressing which on the other hand makes forgiving impossible. Thank you, Beth!

what a gift to give ourselves

You said that well! It is a gift we give ourselves indeed.

Amen to that. Now to shut off that little voice in my head that still blames me for everything that went wrong. 😜

Noisy little blighter…but can indeed be set adrift as we step into the courage of our hearts kind lady 🤗❤️🙏

Very true. I’m working on letting go. 🙏🏻🍃

Just understand the fear kind lady, and you will indeed let it go 🤗❤️🙏

Hmm, that voice sounds familiar… Maybe embracing it and telling it we don’t need it anymore may also be an option. I think what we need the most is understanding for ourselves.

I agree. My problem is I have a very, very good memory. That can work two ways: remembering the best times in my life and the worst times in my life. 🤣

Oh, I hear you so well 😆I can forgive but won’t ever forget when someone messed up with me. We both seem to feel very deep whatever we feel and store this deep inside of us. We live deep!

An interesting thing is fear, we only ‘chatter’ inside because we don’t understand it. Look at anything else we understand and it is no longer there. It is only us holding what we don’t understand, especially with the significance that fear holds for us. The ‘on guard’ that it poses in our lives 🤗❤️🙏

I think that is the point: we don’t understand it and that causes fear. That’s why education is so important. Also, at work: new tasks can cause fear when you feel responsible and obliged to bring it to perfection right away. Informing and learning about the background takes that fear and gives a sense of security – plus it supportes the self-esteem since one sees what they are cabable of 😊

Erika, I’m so happy to hear others feel the same inner conflict. Thank you for saying so out loud. 💕

My pleasure, Gail! I understand that well. I felt like an alien with my inner struggles and thought I was “different” and felt longely/not understood. Only through talking about it, I found out that so many are dealing with similar problems. That alone already helped accepting myself the way I am and in the follow working things out.
Thanks for mentioning that, Gail. I think more people than we might think are struggling with the same things in silence.

You are spot on, Erika. It’s tough to bring those things to light afraid that we are being judged by others. ❤️🩹

Exactly, Gail, it can become a vicious circle 💖

Well said Erika, it is indeed a powerful thing. And those many experiences, though daunting at times, build that hope, courage and confidence in what we are becoming 🤗❤️🙏
