Real magic lies in the simple things anyway, doesn’t it?

Erika, this sounds like an Occam’s Razor example. Keith

Your are so right, Keith. I just googled it and found this as part 4 of How to Apply Occam’s Razor in Your Daily Life:
“Consider the most obvious and simplest explanations first.”

Nice quote and share, Erika! We have a tendency to overthink sometimes.

We do indeed!

Us humans do have a tendency to overthink and complicate things that are, at the root, very simple. Thanks, Erika!

We so do. The best solutions need to be complicated or they cannot work… or so we may believe. But in fact, it is the exact opposite. As you said, the root is always simple and that is where we need to start. Thank you, Jan.

So true! It is so easy to make something so complicated that it becomes a project for later (and later never comes), or the project is dropped completely because it seems so complicated.
Gail’s quote is very common here and is known as “The KISS Principle.”, which parallels very nicely the concept of crossing “one bridge at a time”.
I have put those concepts into action many times. This entailed thinking through the details of my planned end result ….. breaking it down into a logical sequence of steps (bridges), and then dealing with one step (bridge) at a time!
The “KISS Principle” is a wonderfully objective concept because, after all, one cannot cross bridges before you get to them!
Regards to all. C.

That’s a good hint regarding breaking projects into steps. I always get back to that principle when I have to work on something which I cannot overlook completely. So, I have the starting point and the goal … and one step at a time in between. And with every step the further steps become clearer. Otherwise it something can appear so overwhelming that we give up on it, as you mentioned. Thanks for your input, Colin!

A teacher once said, “Live by the KISS theory. Keep It Simple, Stupid.” 🤣 Never forgot it.
