Since I have not had much time for scheduling posts after I returned from my vacation week, I will go with another #HitsByYears week. I am sure you don’t mind. Meanwhile, we have arrived at one of the greatest music years of the 80s – at least in my opinion. It was hard to break the songs down to a maximum of three per post. You will find famous songs that are still played on the radio today, and others that may have been forgotten over the years.
Wake Me Up Before You Go Go – Wham
Only you – Flying Pickets
The Riddle – Nik Kershaw
I know there are so so so many more famous and great songs that have shaped the history of music. I hope you like my choices. However, please feel free and leave your personal favorite song of 1984 in the comments. Since all of the songs you find here have been already scheduled in advance, you may still find your favorite in a later post anyway.

Beyond your excellent choice, Erica, I would like to add Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called To Say I Love You” Many thanks, hoping that you enjoyed your holidays:)

Ciao, Michele. Come stai? I started with my year of birth and once in a while (when there is not so much time for scheduling posts) I move forward year by year. So, there are quite a few song weeks to go. Have a nice evening 😊

Erika, I must confess I have never heard of the “Flying Pickets.’ Interesting version. Keith

Really? Their version was a huge hit over here. The original by Yazoo did not reach the success of the Flying Pickets. I am glad, I added it for you to listen to it. It is something special.

What great music from this remarkable year of 1984! That was the year I became a professional disc jockey. (memories)

Really? Wow, awesome! A fantastic year to start that job. In my opinion, 1984 and 1985 produced most of the best 80s songs.

Can’t go past Billy Ocean – Caribbean Queen…and I had to laugh when a comment came up under this song…’Youtube is the closest thing we have to a time machine’ 😂 🤣

Glad to have you home (gently) dear lady. A little post here, a little post there as you re-acclimatized into…well…you. The Italian holiday seems to have ‘put you into another place inside’…something wants to move…inside or out?…both? 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

Yes, Mark, that vacation gave me the peace to connecting more with my inner self and at the same gime with everything around me. I love it when this happens again. I was in that state for so long but digging deeper into the matter I got thrown off track. This vacation made me see that it can only happen when I let it happen. I am the same person, the same being, it is what I decide to let in and out… Thank you for your profound view, Mark 💖

You have a wonderful way to put truth in poetic words and make them sound so grounded. Amazing!
