#RomanticTuesday Song

Lately, I have bought a new CD player. The old one had been driving me nuts. So, the new one also has a cassette deck… yay! I dug out all my tapes. Many of them were self-recorded from the weekly chart show on the radio. So many treasures I forgot. Most of all, I immediately turned to some particular cassettes of Shakin’ Stevens. I decorated the walls of my room with posters of him. I had autographs, pillows, T-Shirts, scarfs, flags, buttons and patches all over my jeans jacket, and whatever you can think.

In 1983 (I was not even 13 years old), I saw him live in Vienna. My mom needed to accompany me but she did not mind it… lol! He was adorable. It is still unforgettable for me since it was my first concert… and seeing him live… wow!! So, today, I want to share one of my favorite love songs of his (actually, there is no song I don’t like). Who of my European friends remembers Shaky or this song?

A Love Worth Waiting For – Shakin’ Stevens

This rediscovery also inspired the poem for today. I hope you like it!

What a gem from the past. Lol Really, you had bought a cassette player? ERIKA!!!!! Lol I only have such microcassettes for dictation machines. For nostalgia reasons. But you could have some old tapes with folk music (zither and vocals, Maria and Margot Hellwig) from me. Lol Thank you for the great romantic song, and enjoy your evening! Michael

I love my old cassettes because of the music on them but not the cassettes themselves… lol! Most of all when they are full of folklore music…OMG…😂
But Shaky is worth the effort!

Hi Erika – He never made it to England, unless I was really pre-occupied at that time!
Anyway, given that you now have a cassette deck, and as you clearly love those “oldies”, you might want to consider copying them onto your pc. Not only can you start building up your music library in one place (backup regularly is critical) , and not only can you then copy them to your portable device, but if a tape breaks … you have a copy. If you have any vinyl … do the same. I have most of my library on my phone so my music goes everywhere with me! 🙂

You must have ignored him totally 😄 He was such a big star in the UK in the 80s and early 90s. But he might not have made it to Canada. He had a long break until 2006 and then in 2010/11 because of a heart attack. In 2016 he published another record.
I ordered a huge collection which is called The Definiteve Collection with all his records on CD, Best of CDs and some live concerts… and much more in that big box. So, I can let my cassettes rest… hehe.

When I checked on him, I saw that he still is recording songs. Amazing, since he is already 73. Gosh, where has the time gone…
It was difficult over here too for a while but meanwhile (like record players) there are quite some in combination with CD function. Mine has even a USB access… and costs almost nothing.
