Yesterday, Colin of MeAndRay shared a song of Scott Jacobs whom he saw performing live as a street entertainer. Colin liked the voice and the song and bought a CD. In our following discussion, I mentioned that I experienced the same twice in Southern California. Colin asked me to share songs of those artists too.
I heard Terry Prince performing live with his keyboard on the Pier of Santa Monica and I was enchanted by his voice and songs instantly. Of course, I bought his CD and whenever I listen to it the magic of those moments is back. When I talked to him he said, he was so thankful to perform on the Pier and always has a wonderful audience. He could not wish for more. Such a humble person and believe me, you could feel his happy and content heart shining through.
Other than a few years ago I could finally find videos of Terry Prince. No video clips but tourist videos showing him performing on the Santa Monica Pier. To tell from the recording dates he is still performing there which means he must be doing that for 10 to 15 years now. I will share my favorite song Imagine Love, once as a live video and once I share the CD version. If ever you are at the Santa Monica Pier look out for Terry.
Imagine Love – Terry Prince
A few years later, in Santa Monica again, I went through 3rd street and stopped when two guys were playing their guitars. They call themselves Seis Cuerdas. It is breathtaking how they play their instruments. Here is a tourist video of their performance of 711 AD. Honestly, could you have just passed by without stopping?
711 AD – Seis Cuerdas
Here is another song from the CD I bought there.
Tierra Vieja – Seis Cuerdas
Although both performances were so different they attracted my attention instantly. The one touched my heart, the others left me flabbergasted with their skills. No matter what you do, as long as your heart speaks it will capture others’ hearts.
In Love and Light
awesome work. Deep refreshment……

Wow, Erika! All of this music is amazing and different. I loved the lyrical message in “Imagine Love,” but the guitar work of Seis Cuerdas is jaw-dropping! Thank you for sharing!

I understand that tendency very well, Michael. It truly is he magic of the environment too that makes us more receptive for them but also it causes people to create such gems.

Yes, absolutely! It leaves you standing there with open mouth and you ask yourself why they still play on the street. But regarding Terry, that is exactly what he wants, no more no less. He is happy that he can play his music on the Santa Monica Pier in the Califorian sun. I mean… I totally understand him 💖

Thanks for sharing Erika. It never ceases to amaze me how much talent is on the streets; in the parks; in the subway systems etc. For all the people who just see it as free entertainment, it is reassuring to see others make a financial gesture of “Thank you .. that was great!”

Yes, exactly, Colin. I love stopping and listening also for the reason to show my appreciation and let them know that what they are doing does make sense. As you said, a thank you and respectful recognition.
Thank you for the inspiration through your post!

AMAZING! There is such talent in this world and IMO it is such a shame that most artists are not recognized. Loved both of these, Erika. Thank you for sharing!! xo

Often they simply have not the money or the connections to get big. But like Terry said, he was even offered a contract but denied because was so content and happy that he could do what he has been doing. He did not want to get into the marketing wheel and have the pressure on him.
I am happy I can share these gems. Thank you, Amy 💖

I can understand why Terry does not want to mix business with pleasure. I get it. I’m of the same mind, Erika. I do what I do because I love it and I am my own boss. I have no pressures on me to produce nor do I have anyone telling me what he or she wants me to photograph. There is such freedom and joy just going along following one’s heart. (smile) xo

Absolutely agree with you. When there is no pressure to make a living of it we are more dedicated to the essential subject. For example, I could not live from the money I make with my therapy practice and my books but thank God, I don’t need to. I do take it serious though but I have no pressure.
Terry does take his music serious too but he is afraid to lose contact with the original intention to share his musical thoughts on love and peace with everyone otherwise if he would join the mashinery.
As you say, simply following the heart and that is what makes the result so amazing 💖

As artists, who are in the grips of a passionate love affair, we tend to take our art very seriously. My wish for this New Year is somehow I am more involved with people with my camera to bring them joy and to uplift their hearts. I’m talking in the flesh, beyond here. I love to share and I love to let others see my joy and the light on my face as I am in the throes of my passion with my camera. And I love to teach as well …. I’m putting this wish “out there” and allowing it to return to me in its own way without me interfering. Sometimes we can be more of a locked door then an open one. (smile) xo

So that would be cool if you started teaching, Amy. I am sure the passion and enthusiasm for your work can deliver the information to your students so very well. Check out where you could give such lessons. As far as I know you, I can imagine so well how much you would enjoy passing your knowledge and fire on.💖

The way my life is structured now, dear friend, this will have to manifest all on its own. If it is to be, it will be. One of those deals. As I was explaining to several people today, by the time I get back home from the gym or from an outing, my afternoons are gone having just so much still to do. My day is scheduled around my cats. I can dream however and I shall!!

As you said, if it is meant to happen, it will happen. Just stay focused on your dream and you may see options by which you can at least make little steps towards it. It does not always be the whole program we see at the end. It is already a joy to only live the dream in single fragments… as you already do. Simply enjoy the journey 😊
