I remember, recording the first song on a new cassette first, along with three other songs. I listened to all three several times, although I had to rewind and rewind and rewind…
The second song is one of my all-time favorite Toto songs, and always will be.
Since there are so many wonderful songs in that year, I’ll add a third one. Although it was sung by a legend, I don’t think the song was recognized as it deserved. But it’s definitely one of my favorite Bowie songs.
Talking In Your Sleep – The Romantics
Joanna – Kool & The Gang
Modern Love – David Bowie

Erika, looking at the list of hit songs in 1983, I am with Mark on the Eurythmics and “Sweet Dreams” but I saw another one that helped reshape MTV, “Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top. It is a good sing, but not their best song, but they told a story in their video only appearing in the end as some wise old sages. Of the three you noted, David Bowie’s “Modern Love” gets my vote. Yes, the Eurythmics are 80s classics. Sweet Dreams is undestroyable and I still love listening to it. Sharp Dressed Man… so cool that you mentioned that one. I totally forgot about it. I am listening to it right now. Thank you, Keith!

Eurythmics and the 80s are inseparably connected. So many great songs and Sweet Dreams is still played a lot on the radio stations over here. A never-ending hit.

A very good trio of hits 🎵 the early 80s were when music videos really started to take off. Great choices, Erika.

Oh, yes, that too. I remember “China Girl” by David Bowie was one of those early videos, and of course “Thriller”.
