#HitsByYears – 1983

The two songs I’m going to share today I barely heard again after they played nonstop on the radio in 1983. It was absolutely time to dig them out again. I always particularly liked the Slade hit, just a real earworm. I was 13 years old and didn’t really pay attention to the lyrics. But when I listened to My Oh My again, it touched my heart even more because the message is so important and timely right now.

#HitsByYears – 1983

I remember, recording the first song on a new cassette first, along with three other songs. I listened to all three several times, although I had to rewind and rewind and rewind…
The second song is one of my all-time favorite Toto songs, and always will be.
Since there are so many wonderful songs in that year, I’ll add a third one. Although it was sung by a legend, I don’t think the song was recognized as it deserved. But it’s definitely one of my favorite Bowie songs.

#HitsByYears – 1983

I was supposed to spend the last weekend in Vienna. Unfortunately, plans changed a few hours before we wanted to leave due to my husband’s positive Corona test (he is fine, no worries). However, since I expected not to have the time for writing my regular posts, I scheduled another week of my #HitsByYears” series. You may not find the most popular songs of that year like “Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics, “Holiday” by Madonna, or “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel. Instead, I tried to dig out some songs we loved but which we may have a bit forgotten over the past almost 40 decades (what? 40? 😱). Enjoy the trip back to another great year of music:
