What I share here, on my blog, in my books, at my talks, or with anyone I talk to, is my personal truth. It fits who I am, and it fits my progress. I am aware that truth is never final. Each truth is a small stepping stone that leads me to the next particle of truth. It may expand what I have already considered being the truth, or it may put a new face on it. I would never demand anyone believe it because who am I to say what is right or wrong since I believe that truth is subjective. The truth I like to share as part of my inner calling, is a truth that makes me feel good. It strengthens me, broadens my perspective, and keeps my mind curious about what triggers my heart to discover. By sharing it, I hope to trigger something similar in others.
Therefore, no one should hide their truth. It is part of who they are at that moment, and it is the springboard for further discovery. It also allows others to reflect on their truth. They may feel similarly, or they may feel the opposite. But in any case, it inspires. What must be avoided, however, is believing something just because a certain person, a group of people, or even a majority claims something. If that had been the case in the past, we wouldn’t be flying in airplanes and we would still believe that the earth is a disc. People believed in something. They had a vision or just felt that something was right for them to look at more closely, and new things developed out of that.
I love sharing my truth and I love hearing other people’s truth. Looking at it from the spiritual perspective again: Everybody knows something, and in everything someone believes, there is a spark of the big and all-encompassing truth. Maybe together, we would complete that big picture, providing that everybody is open to sharing, willing to accept others’ views, and look at the shared from a distance. As long as we believe in something, we keep moving forward and the collective progress in motion. And there, the most important thing is to believe in oneself. And to close the circle, it means… believe in your truth because it is what leads you in your way and how you can touch others most progressively… but that’s what I believe…
Living your truth means that you are on purpose.
And the ripples that emerge from it provoke others to do the same.

We all have knowledge and truths that we go by. When we share our knowledge, truths and and experiences, it should be to say “this has had a positive impact on my life and maybe it can have one on yours.” We shouldn’t be beating everyone over the head with our truth stick because as you said..no one knows everything. Also we need to stay open and receptive to gaining new insights and not get stuck in our own self serving highness. Great post to kick off the week, Erika. Have a Super week!

I like that expression “self serving highness”. Have to keep it in mind… haha! Thanks for your words which I agree with. It also takes pressure from us because we become less quickly influenced or offended by someone, and we don’t feel the deep need to defend our opinion. Living “your truth” is so powerful and yet so often misunderstood. What is truth, but a perception. My truth is that Sandy Denny has a lovely singing voice, but to a deaf man? It is only his belief that he has. We recently had a quite heavy snow fall, and the truth (to me) was that it gave us a beautiful landscape … but to somebody who cannot see? There are scientists whose truth is the result of mathematical calculations,, but there are also scientists whose truth is based on unproven projections (faith). Here in Canada, it is my truth that our Govt. continually errs with the amount of freedom being given during COVID, but it would be the truth of many businesses that our Govt. is doing a fine job of balancing public safety with maintaining jobs and supporting the business sector.
The truth? Surely it is the same as the saying “Perception is reality”. What we perceive to be the truth … is the truth to us. Somebody with a different perception will have a different belief basis … a different truth.

That is exactly the point. Since we are not above the truth, it is a perception, an idea, an opinion. And it results from where someone is at that moment in their life. The same thing can be seen or experienced so differently by two parties. I like the clear examples you give here to support the subjective nature of truth in this world. Erika, well done. Democracy survives with an informed electorate. This is a key reason autocratic style leaders like Putin, Xi, Kim, Trump et al attack the media and truth tellers. Keith

Erika, so true. How many times did you hear the seditious former US president say “No one knows better (or more) than me….” Or, my favorite, “I, alone” can solve this.” This comes from a person who brags on not reading or studying. Keith
