About Me

Hi, I am Erika! I was born in Vienna but grew up in another part of Austria and in the Principality of Liechtenstein (within the Swiss Alps), where I still live. I am a wife and mom of three grown-up kids and work at a company for alternative investment funds (AIFM). I am also self-employed with my company, Because You Matter, where I offer physical and energetic treatments and produce natural cosmetics. Next to this all I am a singer, songwriter, and author.

For a long time, I was dominated and controlled by fears and outside influences.  From my teenage years to adulthood, my life was overshadowed by destructive thought patterns. I believed this was what life had been meant to be for me since I never knew anything else. But one day I stood up and started to face my fears one by one, leading to many small and one big breakthrough moments (still counting). My life changed completely.  Today I grab my chances and lead the life I always wished for. To share my life-changing insights, I wrote I’m Free – Awareness of Who You Are by Discovering Who You Are Not!

When I started blogging in May 2014, I had no idea what this was about. I did it to promote my book and was trained therefore by my publisher. Over time, I have found my way of blogging and what I want to share with as many people as possible. So my blog has become a place for everyone to pause for a moment, lighten up the heart, smile, get inspired, and fuel with good vibes. We are all wonderful beings who came into this world to explore, discover, experience, create, and simply enjoy the given life in a human body with all senses. I want you to open your heart to hear, see, and feel clearer about yourself, your life, and the world. Therefore, we need the happenings in our lives as signposts and tools. It is neither good nor bad – it simply is. Whatever happens has its reason to show us something or make us develop something. Life is simply all about living with everything it has in store for us.

I am not sitting on a cloud with an enlightened smile on my face all day long. I am dealing with my challenges as everyone does. But since I believe what I wrote above, I have no excuse. However, I can be angry, stubborn, impatient, sad, and frustrated. But I know these characteristics are part of my experience, but not part of me. I am happy as a basic condition of my being. Therefore, I don’t deny negative feelings because I know they will show me something to discover a new part of myself.

Reach out for the stars
but only as high
as your feet can still touch the ground!

In Love and Light!

Erika, it is such a pleasure to meet you. I left a comment on your post concerning Wilson and neglected to stop by your bio page. You are an extraordinary person and I’m so glad to have had this opportunity to learn a little more about you. “I am not sitting on a cloud with an enlightened smile on my face all day long” really spoke to me because I think in our efforts to become better people we are sometimes misguided into believing that we must be happy and calm all the time when the reality is that we are complex, fragile human beings sometimes driven by our emotions.

I am always so encouraged when meeting others who have faced (are facing) their fears then begin living their live with intentional purpose. Thank you for being a ray of sunshine. 🙂 ~Steph

Steph, that was such a wonderful comment. Thank you so much. It is as you say. We are all humans and we have our paths to walk, sometimes they are smooth and sometimes rocky. But that doesn’t mean we cannot be happy and that doesn’t mean life is all bad. Every challenge has a deeper meaning. As soon as we understand it the more motivated we will face a challenge and the faster we are through with the light of another lesson learned. I so thank you for your wonderful comment. I appreciate it a lot, Steph 💖

Nice to meet an author like you. I’ve watched the movie – the sound of music too long ago when I was in highschool so I’m excited to know someone who is actually living in Austria. Glad you are doing what makes you happy and inspires people while doing it 🙂

I feel humbled by your word, thank you so much! Haha.. you know what? I don’t even know the movie… lol. Most Austrians don’t know it 🙂 I am Austrian but live in Liechtenstein. That is only minutes away from the Austrian border. Thank you so much again for stopping by 🙂

You have really inspired me Erika……I love your Song Of The Day Posts and your Daily Kind Quotes…
I would also love to live where you do. Laughing as I wrote that. I have always been infatuated by that area since I first saw Sound Of Music when it first came out in 1965???.

Thank you for your lovely words, Sarah. I appreciate them a lot!
It is so funny that all the Americans know the area because of that movie. And you know what? Over here almost no one knows it. It is really funny 😀

That is funny. Really funny.
My uncle married a lady from over there in your Neck Of The Woods. Not sure where exactly. She had the most beautiful photos of the mountains and valleys. I loved to hear her talk about the area. She ended up going back and I lost contact with her.

Then I guess you never hike any mountains . I use to climb a couple in Colorado. No rappelling or scary stuff. I don’t do that. Just hiking up a trail of sorts. 14 thousand footers.
Now I can’t climb to the hill at Bok Tower without huffing and puffing . It is a short incline not far from us. It is flat here. I mean Flat.

I was hiking with my father when I was a child. But it was a torture and I think that made me lose the fun of it. I love to be up there and enjoy the view but I don’t like hiking up or down there.
