About Me

Hi, I am Erika! I was born in Vienna but grew up in another part of Austria and in the Principality of Liechtenstein (within the Swiss Alps) where I still live. I am a wife and mom of three grown-up kids and work in a company for alternative investment funds (AIFM). I am also self-employed with my company Because You Matter where I offer physical and energetic treatments and produce natural cosmetics. Next to this all I am a singer, songwriter, and author.

For a long time, I was dominated and controlled by fears and outside influences.  From teenage times to adulthood, my life was overshadowed by destructive thought patterns. I believed this was what life had been meant to be for me since I never knew something else. But one day I stood up and started to face my fears one by one leading to many small and one big breakthrough moments (still counting). My life changed completely.  Today I grab my chances and lead the life I always wished for. To share my life-changing insights I wrote I’m Free – Awareness of Who You Are by Discovering Who You Are Not!

im-free-english.jpg

When I started blogging in May 2014 I had no idea what this was about. I did it to promote my book and was trained therefore by my publisher. Over time I have found my way of blogging and what I want to share with as many people as possible. So my blog has become a place for everyone to pause for a moment, lighten up the heart, smile, get inspired, and fuel with good vibes. We are all wonderful beings who came into this world to explore, discover, experience, create, and simply enjoy the given life in a human body with all senses. I want you to open your heart to hear, see, and feel clearer about yourself, your life, and the world. Therefore we need the happenings in our lives as signposts and tools. It is neither good nor bad – it simply is. Whatever happens, has its reason to show us something or make us develop something. Life is simply all about living with everything it has in store for us.

I am not sitting on a cloud with an enlightened smile on my face all day long. I am dealing with my challenges as everyone does. But since I believe what I wrote above I have no excuse. However, I can be angry, stubborn, impatient, sad, and frustrated. But I know these characteristics are part of my experience but not part of me. I am happy as a basic condition of my being. Therefore I don’t deny negative feelings because I know, they will show me something to discover a new part of myself.

Reach out for the stars
but only as high
as your feet can still touch the ground!

In Love and Light!

Sup Erika how have you been I am working hard on my diet and diabetes. After switching off the weight gain Bipolar med that was spiking my sugars its easier to maintain the sugar levels. I got 117, 124 and 142 so far. All good numbers. I feel better, confident and driven to fill up that meter with great sugar numbers.

Hey Erika how have you been doing? I got good news to report I am reversing my diabetes as I am getting 100 normal blood sugars when I test. I need to still lose more weight to permanently reverse it but my numbers show a reversal right now. Started a new med that helps me sleep. It has a bad side effect but I only have to take the med until December when I switch to a new one with no side effects. It doesn’t bother me too much about the bad side effect because when you relapse or in the middle of the relapse they give you hard hitting med for a short term that have a bad side effects its no fun but just the way it goes. Hope you have been well!

Great hope you are having fun on vacation. Yea I am very proud of myself with the blood sugar going to keep working hard on it. It will be okay with the side effects I will just distract myself focusing on other things.

Sup Erika how are you? So I am going to have to add a new medication or replace one as my meds have stopped working and when they were doubled they worked briefly then reverted back to not working. I advocated for myself leaving my pdoc a few voicemails and I see him this thursday. I feel more at peace with it and feel things are going to work out. I have a lot to be positive about because I did all I could do as a result I will likely get stable faster. Yea you got to be at peace and can’t stress over a situation like this that will take a little while to get better. hope you are well. ttys

Patience is always the magic word. We start a journey and then we need to walk it. We will arrive at the perfect time and at the perfect place. But we don’t know yet when. Faith is so important to not lose grip. It is great to see, that you have it!!!

Yes I want to but right now I have been busy working on getting myself stable. I am not sure how to go about getting published and don’t have connections. My sister might be able to help me when she has the time she is busy right now. I will definitely give it my best shot. If it doesn’t work out it won’t matter to me because I’ll always be writing regardless and writing makes me happy. I integrate my friends into the stories and that makes them more special. My writing helps my friends and it helps me.It’s so much writing for my friends it’s a nice thing to do. A lot of my friends have been reading my work for 15 years. That loyal group of fans and friends who supported me from day one always find themselves in my writing. I also like to write for my friends who also suffer from mental illness it really makes a difference and helps them when they are struggling.

Wow, you really seem to be very big as a writer. I love the idea that you incorporate your friends or their stories into your stories. That truly gives your writings a special background and personality. Actually it gives your writings a soul. That is amazing. I totally relate that it is healing.
I don’t know about your mental illness but I see how active you are working yourself through it. You found your way to deal with it and that is one of the biggest steps to healing. If ever I can be of any support, please feel free to get back to me. I am glad we are connected 🙂 You have already given me a lot with your openness. Thank you so much!

I am glad I have helped you with my openness. I have been a pretty big time warrior with my Bipolar Disorder. At age sixteen I got diagnosed the first time make it through high school. At 22 in the middle of college hit again with another relapse then return to school at 26 almost done with college hit again with a relapse. I comeback and graduate college. I went through a lot to get there but I never quit. At 30 I had another relapse. It’s been a battle but I have done pretty well for myself. Your welcome and thanks for being a support. I will definitely turn to if I need your support. Thank you!

Yea Bipolar is not a cup of tea but I have been lucky to have the gift given to me in the talent with writing to help heal myself, cope and help others who suffer too. Like they say what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger and I am a pretty strong guy now through all I went through and that will help in other situations and experiences in life.

Liked by 1 person

I absolutely believe that. Whatever we went through was never in vain. Everything that happened made is the person we are today and prepares us for something in our life. Even if we don’t know today why we have to face certain situations we will know it at some time later. You are a very strong person. As I said, I am glad we are connected. 🙂

Hello my beautiful friend.

Just a quick question….

As you know, I’m going doing another Vlog. (Ask me anything!) one of the questions I was asked by another blogger was regarding favourite books I have read recently. I would like to say yours, and explain why…but didn’t want to do this without your consent. I wouldn’t want to embarrass you or anything. (I was going to say all good things, of course!) you have no idea how much your book “I’m free” has helped me over these past few days.

I would just like to say THANK YOU. Thank you for writing this amazing book. You are inspiring beyond words!

Lots of love, your blogging friend, Amanda 🙂

Oh my God, Amanda!!! I need to buy more tissues tomorrow. You have no idea how profoundly touched I am that you want to mention I’m Free! Really, that means so much to me. Not just the mention itself but WHO does mention it. But much more I am so very, very happy that it could be of support for you in a time you needed support. It is the most wonderful reward to see that what I did had the effect I so wished for while writing on it. You are such a compassionate and strong woman. I have big respect for you after all I know about you.
Before I forget: OF COURSE you can talk about my book. I am humbled to no end. You don’t need to ask for that. You are such a dear friend and I trust you fully. Whenever you want to mention anything about me or what I do, just do!
Thank you so, so much! I hope I can make it to England next year, because I need to hug you strongly in person! That was such a wonderful surprise. Although it is evening the sun has risen again. Big hugs, Amanda, my dear tea-buddy! 💖💖💖

Erika, it is such a pleasure to meet you. I left a comment on your post concerning Wilson and neglected to stop by your bio page. You are an extraordinary person and I’m so glad to have had this opportunity to learn a little more about you. “I am not sitting on a cloud with an enlightened smile on my face all day long” really spoke to me because I think in our efforts to become better people we are sometimes misguided into believing that we must be happy and calm all the time when the reality is that we are complex, fragile human beings sometimes driven by our emotions.

I am always so encouraged when meeting others who have faced (are facing) their fears then begin living their live with intentional purpose. Thank you for being a ray of sunshine. 🙂 ~Steph

Steph, that was such a wonderful comment. Thank you so much. It is as you say. We are all humans and we have our paths to walk, sometimes they are smooth and sometimes rocky. But that doesn’t mean we cannot be happy and that doesn’t mean life is all bad. Every challenge has a deeper meaning. As soon as we understand it the more motivated we will face a challenge and the faster we are through with the light of another lesson learned. I so thank you for your wonderful comment. I appreciate it a lot, Steph 💖

Nice to meet an author like you. I’ve watched the movie – the sound of music too long ago when I was in highschool so I’m excited to know someone who is actually living in Austria. Glad you are doing what makes you happy and inspires people while doing it 🙂

I feel humbled by your word, thank you so much! Haha.. you know what? I don’t even know the movie… lol. Most Austrians don’t know it 🙂 I am Austrian but live in Liechtenstein. That is only minutes away from the Austrian border. Thank you so much again for stopping by 🙂
