#RomanticTuesday Song

music-2087771_960_720

Lately, I heard the original version of the song I am sharing today. It reminded me of the version with which I was introduced to this song in 1982. It was sung by a popular German opera singer of that time. The original song was released in 1965 by Frankie Valli. You know I am an opera singer and therefore I want to share the 1982 version. Enjoy! Read more ›

What a sky today. Bluer than blue. It is what the Italian call “azzurro”. It reminds me of a song which is on my mind since we have come here. It is also one of my favorite Italian songs of one of my favorite Italian singers.  Read more ›

Insight with the help of a song!

I did not plan to post this song but it just fell into my lap this morning. It made me think a lot. It is a serious song and we just laughed and danced to it without noticing the deeper meaning. Now when I read the lyrics I notice how thoughtless this was. I am thinking further. How much do we just do without thinking any further? How often do we hurt people unconsciously and unwittingly only because we don’t think a little over the edge of our plate? We think our life is what counts, our perspective is what counts, and life will just flow on for us the way we are used to. Perhaps we are not aware of it, but that doesn’t matter. Then all of a sudden something starts to wither away because we only painted one side of the house. We do not understand because we still only think from our own point of view. In our desperation, we try to save it by painting the same wall over and over again – how ignorant. And then – when it might be too late – we finally think about walking around the house and seeing clearly. Looking back we are always smarter. We cannot rewind time but we can make it better from now on! That is everything we want but also everything we can offer.

Buffalo Soldier – Bob Marley

Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta:
There was a buffalo soldier in the heart of america,
Stolen from africa, brought to america,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

I mean it, when I analyze the stench –
To me it makes a lot of sense:
How the dreadlock rasta was the buffalo soldier,
And he was taken from africa, brought to america,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

Said he was a buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta –
Buffalo soldier in the heart of america.

If you know your history,
Then you would know where you coming from,
Then you wouldn’t have to ask me,
Who the ‘eck do I think I am.

I’m just a buffalo soldier in the heart of america,
Stolen from africa, brought to america,
Said he was fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Said he was a buffalo soldier win the war for america.

Dreadie, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Buffalo soldier troddin’ through the land, wo-ho-ooh!
Said he wanna ran, then you wanna hand,
Troddin’ through the land, yea-hea, yea-ea.

Said he was a buffalo soldier win the war for america;
Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Driven from the mainland to the heart of the caribbean.

Singing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

Troddin’ through san juan in the arms of america;
Troddin’ through jamaica, a buffalo soldier# –
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival:
Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta.

Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy! /fadeout
