Really, you don’t know that song? It is from 1962 and there are so many versions from it. Marlene Dietrich sang a German version.

Marlene Dietrich, Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul & Mary and so many others were my introduction to it in the early 1960s. A classic.

The German version by Marlene Dietrich was the first one I heard. I just read that the song itself has Ukrainian roots.
