As I told you last week, it is time again for some trips back on memory lane. After a little drought (at least for me) finding some classic song from the years 76 and 77, we arrived in 1978. And here it starts again to become difficult picking only five songs of a fantastic variety. But no words anymore but only great sounds.Read more ›
Some artists have been great since the first time they showed up. One of those artists is the one I want to conclude the 1977 week. Warning: The song will keep playing in your head for the rest of the day… Happy Friday!Read more ›

Since this is actually the day I am posting some #MomentsOfJoy, there has to be a song that goes along with that idea. This song makes me especially joyful. Happy Romantic Tuesday! Who remembers Rita Coolidge? When I hear her name, I think of All Time High which was the soundtrack for the James Bond movie Octopussy. It was the first Bond movie I saw. That might be the reason why I liked Roger Moore playing Bond the most. But today we go with an older song of Coolidge. It is new to me but I am glad I found it. EnjoyRead more ›

Wow, it is already the last day of the 1976 – week. I want to conclude it with my favorite song of that year. I remember that it was played up and down the radio stations. Only decades later when I heard it again, I understood the funny and cute meaning of the song (remember, English is not my first language… hehe). Who remembers that song?Read more ›

The many languages here in Europe are of course also reflected in the music we hear on the radio every day. Today, English is the most commonly heard language. But the further back in time you go, the more the hits were mainly sung in the national language of the singer or the band. I believe that at least my European friends may remember the song I am sharing today.Read more ›
Happy #RomanticTuesday, everybody. #HitsByYears or not, it has to be a romantic song on a Tuesday. It es even better when it is one of the foot-tapping kind. Have a great day!Read more ›
Another course weekend has come to an end yesterday which for another Hits By Years week. We have arrived in 1975 and for the start I picked a song from a Dutch Band that was very big at that time. In 1974 one of the most famous bands had their breakthrough due to winning the European song contest. ABBA was pretty unknown at that time. It is even more interesting to watch the original video of their performance at the song contest from 1974 since we know how far they have come.Read more ›

Today’s song is again one of those which feels more like an 80s’ song to me since I got introduced to it in the mid 80s. Back then I did not pay attention to the lyrics (remember my mother tongue is German) neither did I bother what the song is about. So, doing this series really shines a new light on many songs I thought I already knew and makes them even more meaningful to me. Read more ›
This is one of those songs I don’t have specific memories of but one of those I simply since forever (which is obvious since I was three years old when it was published). Hearing this song takes me back looking through the eyes of a person which I am not anymore and still feels familiar. Like a dress I wore long ago and put it back on again. I don’t know how to explain it better but I think you know what I mean. Read more ›
Yes, I know, there is a popular cover version of the song below. But that one never did it to me. Of course, I have always reflexively compared it with the original and to me the cover version has not half of its depth. But however, there would be no cover version without this beautiful song. So enjoy! Read more ›

Last Saturday I had tickets for Status Quo. They were the main act at an annual festival in our country. Of course, they look older BUT boy did they bring the hall to a full boil! It was already a hot day and hot inside but nobody cared. We jumped, danced sang, clapped our hands, … It was an amazing experience and I felt like a teenager again hearing those songs again. Due to the filled weekends and evenings after work of the past weeks, I am not able to catch up with my own schedule. That’s why I need to take this week off from the regular posts… BUT… I have had the idea for a new song series.

Who doesn’t like Supertramp? There are many songs most of all their earlier ones which I especially like. But there is one song that spoke a lot to me for many years. First as the one hiding and later when I had left my shell as the one talking to those hiding. However, this song is a masterpiece in lyrics together with the whole composition regardless from which side you look at it. Read more ›

This day welcomed me with a thick layer of snow. It already snowed yesterday. It was only from time to time but when it did, it was worse than in winter. I just worry about my poor trees and hope that this was it.
This is my poor willow. Usually, its branches are upright and it truly looks like a big crown.

Yesterday I remembered some 70’s songs I love to listen because they remind me of a time in my childhood which was so unburdened. The radio was basically only turned on in the mornings. I feel very honored that I was asked officially from Ed Jones of the Lyric Theatre London to share the information about the musical production Thriller Live! I saw the musical about 2 1/2 years ago and I was deeply moved that MJ’s spirit was conveyed so heartfelt throughout the whole production. It is full of respect, honor, appreciation, and the passion for letting his legend live on. This all was radiated from each actor even the youngest ones. It is a journey through a lifetime of music from the early years on. Great voices and incredible dancers are performing live songs of the Greatest.
On a side note: This is not a post-mortem production. The musical has been touring around the world since January 2009. Michael died in June 2009.
Perhaps not what you would expect…..😂 Happy Thursday! Read more ›
I dug a little in the past and picked a song from the late 70s for today. That song takes me back to the days when I went to elementary school. Tidbit Tuesday broke records in my stats once again yesterday. I wasn’t sure how you all would react. But there was no single negative voice about my poem. Thank you all! After yesterday’s hot waves I am completely on the romantic side today. To tell from my Monday post this might even turn out as the week of love on my blog.
Sometimes when two people did part, after a while they might recognize that love cannot simply be turned off. The time apart makes it obvious how strong and true their love is rooted. Whatever might have happened should not prevent them from letting the past behind, realizing the gift, and giving their love a second chance. Sometimes it is even only a stupid misunderstanding. That all came to my mind while listening to one of my favorite love songs. Read more ›
Again I was looking for a particular song and stumbled over another Alice Cooper song. I digged deeper and found this one released in 1977. A really lovely and romantic side of him. Shame on me, I only know so little songs of his. What songs would you recommend? Let me know. Read more ›
Six years ago the message of Michael Jackson’s death was rushing through the media. Seriously, for hours I told myself that this must be a big misunderstanding. As we all know, it wasn’t. Later today I will post a little tribute to my teenage idol.

Hey, it’s Sunday and hopefully some time for undisturbed daydreaming. Never stop dreaming!!! In our dreams lie the impulse of what we want from life. Lately I often think back to the songs I listened to as a teenager. I love to make this one today’s Song of the Day. When we had our disco nights this song was played every time although it was already released in 1972 (I was two at that time). Whenever I hear it I am back in that time, dancing, having fun with all my friends, experiencing first love in the dark corners of the discotheque….
Yesterday a friend posted a playlist. On that list there was a song I love for a long, long time. It describes my love for and my bond with California. It expresses this yearning which I feel when I am not there. That’s one of THE classic songs for me which I will never get tired to listened to. Read more ›
I heard this song on Thursday in the mall. The single was released in 1979. I remember that it always touched my heart as child, as teenager, and whenever I heard it. I never really listened to the lyrics – it simply touched me. And when I heard it in the mall a wave of melancholy went through me again. Now that I read the lyrics it moves me even more because I understand why it moved me all life long. Read more ›
