Bella Italia ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น – Rimini, Bologna, Bellagio

Here we are again with the third part of our Italy trip. If you want to check out the first two parts of our trip please click here Bella Italia ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น – Genoa, Cinque Terre, Pisa, and here Bella Italia ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น – Florence, San Marino.

The last part takes us from the Italian east coast back northwards and close to the Swiss border to lake Como. Rimini was about to awaken when we arrived. the beaches are still empty but you can tell from the installed umbrella holders what may be going on during the main season. Over a large part of the promenade, people were busy setting up food stands. The view from our hotel room was gorgeous day and night. We could even spot San Marino from our balcony. I would like to come back when there is more going on to feel the pulsing life, but I don’t think I was one of those lying on that beach together with thousands of others. The old town again is typically Italian and it is almost like one big market. I love that.

Did you know that Bologna has a leaning tower too? I had no idea until I saw it. There are four historic “Torre” in Bologna. Two are next to each other, and the smaller one of the two is really really really slope. It was even more challenging to catch that in a picture than in Pisa. Everything was very close together, and I could not find an ideal angle. But believe me, it looks weird. On a side note: we were lucky to receive an upgrade to our hotel room. We got a suite on the top level of the hotel. That was great because right when we arrived, there was a thunderstorm going down, and we could take our time until it was over and enjoy the room. Later the sun came back, and we could even sit outside for dinner.

Our last day took us to Bellagio at the picturesque Lake Como. As many of you may know, George Clooney has a villa at Lake Como in the small village called Laglio. However, the weather was not on our side that day, but we enjoyed it anyway. It made the atmosphere even more special and cozy. We spent our time in the old part of the village. There is only one narrow road (one way) leading through the city. The whole place is connected through stairs. That gives that village this original touch of former times. When we left the next day, we could only leave by ferry. Really special!

I am already looking forward to our next trip to bella Italia, hopefully, sooner than later.

Wonderful to see the architecture of these old structures and the worn steps through the streets .
The old and new, regarding the beaches โ›ฑ umbrellas, like you, while I enjoy relaxing in the sun, I would much sooner be exploring the historic buildings and you’ve shared some gems..
Thank you Erika.
Enjoy your weekend ๐Ÿ˜˜ ๐Ÿ’–

I think we are pretty much riding the same wave regarding mass tourism… hehe. But I love strolling through markets and boulevards and then I enjoy a lot of people around. There is so much life shining from each stone and person. Amazing.
Thank you very much, Sue. You have a lovely weekend too ๐Ÿ’–

Well, well…drawn to the Italian lifestyle Erika. After seeing your front on shot up top I think one of those Italian studs has sneaked into one of your previous generations somewhere. Maybe one of those late night trysts in the moonlight sometime, someplace. Its in your eyes ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿคฃ
And you are right, that architecture doesn’t stop does it. All different and amazing but still having its own style. Your not eying off one of these places for retirement are you, (the bottom picture of a toast is an agreement on the retirement place ๐Ÿ˜€), ensconced in one of those George Clooney places to idle away the sunshine with a view. I would think that they would come with a nice price tag to boot. Maybe you could afford it by becoming the ferry driver with a little cottage next to it by the water. Much more at ease with a great view across the water ๐Ÿคฃ โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ ๐Ÿฆ‹

Yes, it must have found its way into my genes… lol
To be honest, we were just building air castles of “what if we find the place we would love to go frequently… and what if to make it a second home”… but much too early. There is still too much beauty and magic to discover until I want to commit…haha. But you did read my heart and mind, Mark. Of course, it won’t be a villa like Clooney has (a nice apartment would do it too) and I don’t know if it would be Lake Como (it is a bit too close… hehe). But who knows… time will tell ๐Ÿ˜„

That photo was taken from our balcony. What a gorgeous view it was day and night. So, you see why I was so relaxed. Such a beautiful, energizing and calming place. Thank you, Jan.
