Unpredictable
Love is a peculiar thing
You don’t know how it acts
Maybe it comes rushing in
Or it slowly expands
You can ponder, you can ask
Or wipe the thought away
But it won’t change the fact that love
Has only come to stay
If ever I did fall in love
It was with you, for sure
A feeling that I only noticed
After I was already yours
In Love and Light
Lovely words Erika… Thank you … ❤

Wonderful! I love when love catches us by surprise. Usually though it’s a slow process I think.

Erika, very well done. I think your first stanza shouts the truth. And, the closing stanza brings it home. Love can be, but is often not at first sight. That does not reference the physical attraction which can often be at first sight. So, people need to know that growing into love is common, as quite often, the person you fall love in with is the one beneath the outer persona. This is why I love the closing stanza, in particular the last two lines, so much. The flip side is also true, that very attractive person who took your breath away at first, may be shallow and self-absorbed and push you away.

Oh, yes, it can happen both ways. Mostly those high waves of emotions that propel you upwards may only be some hot air that subsides slowly or suddenly again, while other feelings can grow slowly and build a strong fundament. I like a lot how you said that. Thank you, Keith!

Thanks Erika. I am reminded of the story of how a boyfriend came upon his new girlfriend who had just picked up a little boy after he beamed at her. The man saw this beautiful woman in a pretty white dress holding this unknown boy and the love in his heart soared. When she saw him, she noticed the little boy’s dirty shoes soiled her dress and she fussed at him as she put him down. The magic moment had gone and it soured his attitude a little.

When love decides to choose you, it moves in before you can recognize its presence. You only know that your heart has been awakened. Beautiful thoughts you have capture here, Erika.

It is a sneaky thing, even when you don’t want to. And even when you do, we still hesitate…so we can feel every part of us become that delicious change. Great poem dear lady, no doubt touched by that thief of hearts 🌹 ❤️ 😂 🤣
