Hi, folks. I am dropping in for sharing some pictures of a short noticed walk in our mountains. The weather forecast is not very reliable lately. From partly cloudy to thunderstorms, you hear everything. (Right now, while I am writing this post, we are having a thunderstorm). But how lucky are we to live in an area where we are so close to beautiful places. We decided to drive to Malbun that is the ski and hiking region of our country. From there, we walked up to the Sareis for having a coffee and ice cream. Downwards we took the chairlift. Here are some photos from the walk and the area around.

Although clouds passed by and took turns with sunny moments, it was always warm.
Arriving at the destination at 2000 m/3600 ft, we enjoyed a beautiful view of the mountains and mountain chains around there before I finally got to my ice cream and coffee 😋
And down we went again. I was joyfully sitting into that chairlift… completely forgetting that I am afraid of heights. After we passed the meadow at the beginning of the ride (as you can see on the photo where I gladly show my feet), the ground disappeared, and I felt like hanging above an abyss. Although basically I knew, I was caught of gard. It was a terrible moment that I cannot even describe. I had not expected my reaction which shocked me too. I managed to keep my panic attack under control but therefore spent half of the ride with closed eyes… lol. So the pictures you see were taken by my husband.
On the way down to the valley, I needed to stop to take pictures of the gorgeous view of the upper part of the Rhine valley. A beautiful area, I am blessed to live.

That is a really beautiful region you live in. The chairlift looks interesting 😳 also the ice cream 😁

The chairlift is a cool thing actually… if you are not afraid of heights or forgot that you are… lol! The ice cream and the cappuccino were great!

That’s just the most amazing trip. Feels like I got the chance to breathe that mountain air. I so want to visit beautiful Lichtenstein. Your photos and your words are just perfect. Those pesky things do take your breath away sometimes when the ground just seems to disappear. So happy you got your ice cream. And a photo of you smiling, perfect.

You captured that well with your words, Gary. A proof that you truly feel the area and know that kind of places with your heart. You see, I am dropping bread crumbs for you… lol. I am positive that one day you will see this all in person. You feel too close to the Alps.

Erika, beautiful. I kept waiting for Fraulein Maria to break into “The hills are alive with the sound of music. I am sorry about your panic attack. I hope the picture at the end is of you settled down and more relaxed after the attack. By the way, you earned your dessert and latte. Keith

It was all good in the end. Although, my own reaction caught me off guard, I know some tools of how to keep me from freaking out. But it was terrifying for a few endless minutes… lol!
That ice cream and latte was forgotten for a while… But maybe it kept me better in the seat … haha

These are such incredible photo’s Ericka. The countryside is such a beautiful place, lush and green forever, let alone the majesty of the mountains around you.
And pray what is wrong with your feet, they appear to be those with a child’s heart about to take a ride…until that rude nudge from a fear of heights as you sailed out into nothingness.
I don’t mind heights, its the claustrophobia that rattles my cage. I think my birth may have been a bit overly tight and full of struggles 😀
Spirit has aided me by allowing lifts to suddenly stop mid floor for 4 hrs while I waited for a technician to free me or asking me to take a flight somewhere on a nice very small airplane. It does test the soul somewhat to break us free 😂 🤣

Haha, yes, it was my unburdened inner child who forgot about my fear and actually, I thought I was over it… but then it just happened… lol. Oh, my Gosh, I completely get your claustrophobia. I am not suffering from it but the panic you can develop might feel similar. I could compare it with that chairlift stopping at that heights… HELP!!

Oh yes, I do understand that feeling. And yes, our hearts get an adrenal hit like nothing else from that anxiety. The key is to relax the body and slow the breathing, it negates the adrenal hit and brings calm back. And I do understand that feeling of when we feel we have it under control and it doesn’t matter anymore, only to have it roll back up. I think there are ‘seated’ triggers that set it off. But as we go through life we slowly ‘unseat’ the tyrants by dis-empowering them and relegating them to the bin, their use by date has been reached 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

That was exactly, what I was doing. I closed my eyes, and focused on calming my breath, counting 1, 2, 1, 2… nothing else.
You described that so well. Yes, something must sit there deep inside which only shows up in that specific moment. And because it was kind of forgotten, it shocks even more. At least, we learned how to deal with it AND trick them at times… if we are faster… lol

Vielen Dank!

Ohh Erika, I went up Table Mountain’s cable car once. Note the once. I was happily standing there admiring the view of the sea till I looked up to see where we were going. I hit the floor and scared some Japanese tourists! I remember that feeling well. 😉 ❤

I understand your reaction very well, Jane. Thank God, I don’t mind the cable cars anymore but I did and totally know where you come from!
