The song I am sharing today I know from my teenager years although it was released when I was only 2 years old. I think the excitement for heavy mental was not so big for my parents … lol. I love this song since although it is a 70s’s song it reminds me of the 80s and being at the discotheque with my class mates. Smoke on the Water – Deep Purple
Feel free to add or mention in the comments your favorite song of 1972 and the memory that connects you with it.
In Love and Light
Tremendous song. Lucky enough to have seen these 3 times. Get a tingle down the spine when you here the start of this song.

Erika, this one surprised me. I have been a rock and roller and head banger for years. I wore out an eight track tape of Deep Purple (the type of tape dates me). This was the song every high school band had to play. But, my favorites of theirs would include “Hush,” “My Woman’s from Tokyo,” ” Lazy,” and “Strange Kind of Woman.”
Interesting side bar, one of their lead singers starred in the movie version of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” He later toured on the Broadway version of the play. Keith

I think I have to check the songs out. I can imagine that I know some when even I don’t recognize them from the title. Yes, I was surprised that it was “that old”… lol.
Thank you for this information about the lead singer, Keith. I had no idea. You always come up with the coolest facts… haha.

Thanks. My guess is you have heard “Woman from Tokyo” and “Hush” as they were more mainstrean rock-n-roll. Here is an excerpt from “Hush.”
“Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name.
Now, hush, hush….”

I checked out all the 4 songs but I have to confess that none of them sounds familiar. I think I should have had an album to listen to since they were not so much played on the regular radio stations… except Smoke on the Water. So, thank you for introducing me to some of their songs. Most of all I liked Strange Kind of Woman.

Isn’t it just so cool to ride a bit back in time. I am often surprised when I find the songs I seem to know forever and see what year they are from.

Yes, absolutely, heavy metal of the 70s and the 80s is so different. There was a lot more soul in it… at least it feels to me.
