On this Romantic Tuesday, I am going with a classic 70s song. I am sure all of you know it – no matter what age. Promise or not… I am having my rose garden …. lol!

I Beg Your Pardon, I Never Promised You A Rosegarden – Lynn Anderson

Feel free to add or mention in the comments your favorite song of 1970 and the memory that connects you with it.

Erika, the boldness of the song’s message is what made it sell. Relationships are hard work. 1971 was a good year. I looked at the Billboard top 100. Rod Stewart’s “Maggie May,” jumped out. The Temptations had “Just my imagination” and on the more folk country side, John Denver sang of “Take me home country roads.” But, one did catch my eye more than others written by Kris Kristofferson and sung by the late great Janis Joplin, who died too young – “Me and Bobby McGee.” Thanks for the memories. I hope you had a good vacation.

Wow, all such fantastic songs, Keith! What a music year that must have been. Oh, yes, Janis Joplin. That song is an alltime classic! I should have thought of that one! That John Denver song is from 1971? Amazing. I thought it was younger. Great information, Keith. Thank you!

Erika, me too. I need a prod to remember. Have you seen “Yesterday” about the local singer who is the only person to remember The Beatles’ music? He has to work hard to remember the lyrics and that is part of the humor. Keith

The very first 70’s song I can relate to is definitely When Will I See You Again by The Three Degrees. And the funny part about this relationship is that I didn’t even heard it until summer of 1996!

Crazy, isn’t it!!

Actually, my Uncle who used live abroad back in the 80’s, had a collection of Western music on tapes. He bought them back to his hometown when he returned in the mid 80’s and just stored them up in storage section at home. When I bought my first boombox in the summer of 96, I dug out those tapes and started to play them up on my boombox. Almost every summer night of 96 was spent by me at the rooftop in my home, listening to those tapes, which were loaded up with mostly one-hit wonders of 70’s and 80’s.

Such a wonderful time of my life it was for sure and I really miss it badly!

I can relate to that so well. I am often surprised how old some songs actually are, since I only heard them for the first time much later.
Thank you for leaving the link. I like that song a lot and did not expect it to be of the early 70s.
The 70s and 80s were a great music era and I too miss the 80s a lot. It was a great time!
Thank you very much for your comment and again for sharing the song, Hammad!
