I dare to say that fear is the origin of most or even all of our problems and troubles. Fear is a blocking filter built by the mind and it keeps us from connecting with the source of power inside of us. Peace, understanding, development, happiness – to sum it up – love, comes from within. Only if we open up the pipeline to that source, which is the origin of our being, we are able to live the life we are supposed to. We need to identify fear as a lie. Fear is a thought, an imagination and nothing else. It never tells the truth and is a big cheater.
Fear can only crab in from the outside. It never comes from within. It is something we develop over time. It is what we believe about other people’s opinions; opinions about circumstances, about rules, about life, about how everyone (and perhaps the individual in particular) is supposed to act or even be. From there we create our own construct of beliefs about ourselves. But what we are is already given. We are the way we are meant to be and what we are meant to become during our time here on earth. But it is our free will and of course, part of our development and journey, how much influence and control we grant others. We are always holding the doorknob in hands and – whether consciously or unconsciously – we decide what we invite into our sacred realm.
The time always comes when we realize that we are too tolerant of other people’s convictions which are not in alignment with who we are. That is the time when the journey of clearing them out and unveiling our shiny core begins. It is an amazing trip of re-discovering ourselves. It is not even something new we find. It is simply a walk back home with continuous remembrances and déjà-vus. That’s why it all feels so good, so empowering, so strengthening, so comforting, so familiar… so us. It is like coming home and the energy and enthusiasm which is set free in that process is much bigger than if we had always been aware of it.
After a while, that energy turns into a huge sparkling cloud of inner peacefulness combined with the enthusiastic joy of the unlimited and liberated soul which can eventually shine again. A journey we may have started not only years but even lifetimes ago. Each lifetime adds aspects and lessons to remember our nature and creative possibilities again. The more we are aware of this all, the more open for the helpful lesson we become and the more likely we will take them instead of fighting them. We propel ourselves closer to our spiritual center which is the entrance to an abundant life without the need of possession. It is the highest awareness about life itself. At the same time, we lose the need to compete, to judge, and to possess. It is the insight of who we are and what life is about.
The secret of life is not in discovering our spirituality but in understanding that we don’t need to decide between a spiritual or a physical life. It doesn’t stand in opposition. The secret and at the same time the magical tool of life is to connect our spiritual origin with our physical abilities. That means, filling our lives with who we are in order to fulfill the purpose of (our) life itself. We are unlimited.

In Love and Light
I face so much fear in life. My daughter almost died right after she was born from a freak incident. I’ve quickly realized life is too short and way to fragile. Thankfully she survived. And I have my faith in Jesus to lean on. But I struggle so much. I really liked your Japanese proverb! It rings a bell with me. Thanks for sharing. I do have my daughter story a few posts down if you would like to read it.

Oh my goodness, Erika! To be able to reach out and hug you in a huge embrace … this is how I felt as I was reading this post. I could not agree more with you about fear. Fear is the vehicle that truly prevents us from living our whole potential as the unique spirit in human form we are. However, fear at times does serve a purpose as it points out circumstances in life to avoid in order to remain safe. Example … I desire to photograph downtown Buffalo, but, the violence in the city stops me from going. I do not feel safe carrying around expensive camera equipment in a place where I could get hurt. Fear in association to self growth, though, yes very much does block us from achieving what we were born to do. HUGE APPLAUSE for this post!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Thank you for this inspiring comment, Amy. Yes, I know what you mean with those two kinds of fear and I agree. In order to differ between them I wrote a post a (long) while back where I described that kind of fear as instinct. That inner knowing or feeling when there is real danger. I like how you described fear as a vehicle. I would love to quote you with that sentence. may I?💖
