Song of the Day

song-of-the-day

I heard this song on the radio the other day and I asked myself how I could forget about this great classic. I like Aerosmith and I hope you like the song I am sharing today.Β

Also, I feel honored that Lisa of Life of An ElPaso Woman nominated me for the Song Challenge. I hope it is ok that I combine my song series with the challenge and cheat a bit that way.

Janie’s Got A Gun – Aerosmith

Dum, dum, dum, honey what have you done?
Dum, dum, dum it’s the sound of my gun.
Dum, dum, dum, honey what have you done?
Dum, dum, dum it’s the sound

Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her whole world’s come undone
From lookin’ straight at the sun
What did her daddy do?
What did he put you through?
They said when Janie was arrested
they found him underneath a train
But man, he had it comin’ Now that Janie’s got a gun
she ain’t never gonna be the same.

Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody is on the run
Tell me now it’s untrue.
What did her daddy do?
He jacked a little bitty baby
The man has got to be insane
They say the spell that he was under the lightning and the
thunder knew that someone had to stop the rain

Run away, run away from the pain yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Run away run away from the pain yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away

Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody is on the run
What did her daddy do?
It’s Janie’s last I.O.U.
She had to take him down easy and put a bullet in his brain
She said ’cause nobody believes me. The man was such a sleeze.
He ain’t never gonna be the same.

Run away, run away from the pain yeah, yeah
yeah yeah yeah
Run away run away from the pain yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away

Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Everybody is on the run

Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody is on the run
Because Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody is on the run
Janie’s got a gun

Right. Well with that album Pump, their sound started to become more produced and I think they started relying more on outside writers. Still catchy stuff, I must admit, but sometimes I miss the rawness.

I know what you mean. The original authenticity is missed when you know the early productions. It feels like they turned more outwards to please the mass instead of getting their own thing going.

It was. Halfway through the concert the band left the Main stage and went onto a smaller one in the middle of the crowd where they performed a couple more before returning to the Main stage. It was exciting to see him in the crowd! πŸ‘€

Oh, that’s cool! I heard it on the radio lately. I am much more attentive since I am having the song series… lol! Hey, it is the perfect challenge for me. Once because music is half of my life and second because it goes along with my regular song posts. It’s very cool! Thanks again, Lisa πŸ’–
