Song of the Day

song-of-the-day

I love Dr. House (I mean the series). Hugh Laurie is such a great actor. Although, I think not many wish for a boss or co-worker like Dr. House. But the character is totally intriguing and so funny! I also like his music. Very cool! But today I don’t want to share one of Laurie’s songs but a song I heard on the series. Look at this:

And here is the original:

Baba O’Riley – The Who (1971)

Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don’t need to fight
To prove I’m right
I don’t need to be forgiven

Don’t cry
Don’t raise your eye
It’s only teenage wasteland

Sally ,take my hand
Travel south crossland
Put out the fire
Don’t look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let’s get together
Before we get much older

Teenage wasteland
It’s only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland
Oh, oh
Teenage wasteland
They’re all wasted!

I remember I used to work at a online store that sold movies and this was just when VHS was phasing out…but the VHS tapes had to be specially formatted to be viewed in Europe. I wonder if that has anything to do with it….though seems unlikely.

Yes, the US and Europe had different systems. Also DVD’s were a problem for some time. But once it is digital I think there is only something about copyright or some other guidline things, I guess. Otherwise it would be more of a browser thingy.

Great song ! And I was a huge Dr. House fan, I remember when he played this on the show. (sadly, the video here does not play in the US.) The Who were doing some really innovative stuff, way ahead of their time. The title is attributed to 2 folks…Pete T’s guru (Baba) and a composer he liked (Riley). In my mind, it will always be “Teenage Wasteland”…☺
