Snow, snow, snow…

20170114_094038The past two to three days we had some milder weather due to the warm air stream we get at times. It is called “Foehn” and can turn out to a huge warm storm. Even in winter, it can cause temperatures here in the alps up to 15 °C (about 60 °F). We only got 3 – 5 °C which was already nice. But yesterday within only 2 hours the Foehn broke down and the weather changed dramatically into storms with snow falls. It all calmed down by last evening. But during the night heavy snowfall started again and it has not stopped yet!

Since I started working my shopping day is Saturday which already can be challenging in general. I usually do that in Austria (only a twenty minutes drive) since it is cheaper and I get the tax back. But today I did not even bother to go there. I know that the streets will be more crowded and driving will be a nerve testing adventure at such weather conditions – although I am really thankful for my SUV. So today I went to a much closer store in Switzerland. Anyway, I just thought I share some impressions from the ride and how it looked about 2 hours ago…. still snowing!
