Better Late Than Never!

My dear motherly friend, Linda of Nutsrok, published her first book this year. She wrote the memoirs of her mother Kathleen. I have to confess that I am not through it yet. But I read enough to finally give Linda’s book a shout out.

The book tells the story of a child born during the great depression but also into a most loving family, starting with Kathleen’s birth over her childhood, teenage years and marriage. Kathleen’s life was filled with love and laughter but also hard work and tragedies. The book tells the struggles of the family and the many details people had to deal with back at that time. What makes the book even more special are the illustrations which are created by Kathleen herself.

I was fortunate to meet both Linda and her mom in Louisiana last year. I was Linda’s guest and I couldn’t be more thankful for the hospitality and kindness I experienced. I was treated like an old friend of the family. Linda and her mom are just amazing. We had so much fun. The humor both have is unique as are their big hearts. Kathleen is a true gem. She is giving with both hands.

You can get Everything Smells Just Like Poke Salad as paperback or as Kindle edition

Believe me, you won’t regret it. Once you start reading you will forget about the time. If you want to read a real life story then Kathleen’s memoirs give you the full dose!
