The Bench

The bench looks empty

But filled with dreams

Not yet experienced

But soon….. it seems

Dreams of two people holding hands

Watching the setting sun

With tearful eyes of gratitude

Aware where they belong

The bench becomes their meeting place

To talk about their day

Having some coffee and relax

Chilling together all the way

Listening to the birds together

Watching nature thrive

Gazing at the stars embraced

In gratitude about their life

When then in fall the leaves turn brown

The nights get cold and long

When snow is covering their bench

Their love’s still growing strong

Today the bench might still look empty

But filled with burning dreams

It’s written in their book of love

The page about to turn….. it seems!

Oh, that is a moving thought, Colin. That makes me think of that old building in Vienna (from 1907) where my parents hat their apartment. The stairway was long (high rooms) and the old stone steps were very worn too. My mom gave the apartment away only 2 years ago. I was raised there until we moved away. But we came back once a year during the summer break. Thank you for bringing up such lovely memories, Colin!
