Song of the Day

I am not a fan of cover versions. Normally, the cover version appears only modern to me but loses its original character and flair. Now there is a cover version of an absolute classic. The band is courageous that they dared to cover this song. But… I love it! I wonder what you think!

Sound of Silence – Disturbed

(originally by Simon & Garfunkel)

Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp

When my eyes were stabbed
By the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening

People writing songs
That voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence

“Fools,” said I, “you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you.”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
And the words that it was forming

And the sign said,
“The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.”
And whispered in the sound of silence

Song of the Day, Songs

Hello, Erika! I have been running around crazy again and have not stopped in to say hello! I did enjoy the song but still love the original the best. It seems like everyone is remaking songs, as of late. That is just the way of the world I guess. Hugs to you, my friend. ❤

Yes, true! So there are not a lot I really like. Sometimes it seems to me that some don’t know what to produce and simply warm up a song. But I have to say that this one is an example that they can really make a new song which is not competing the other one but gives it an interesting different touch! Thank you for stopping by. Hope you are all doing well!

I am doing well. Trying to get outside more as the weather is finally warming up. Not much blog time, but what do you do. I will be stuck in the house all winter! LOL! I am not complaining. Hugs to you, Erika. ❤

Sounds like a nice busy time… haha! I started working on Wednesday. So my time is even more limited now than it has already been. But I am happy about that place. I am very thankful. Have a lovely Friday, Colleen 😊
